Just days after 83 year old This Morning star Iris Jones announced she'd sadly split from her long-term her Egyptian toyboy husband, 37 year old Mohamed Ibrahim now has opened up on his side of the story.

The couple were a hit after putting in numerous stints on the smash hit ITV show, where Iris spoke candidly about their sex life together, and their desire to be married, which they eventually did in 2020.

Revealing their split by posting a cryptic message on social media after Mohamed was seemingly replaced by a cat, Iris later told Closer that the relationship had quickly become "hard work" due to the frequency of their arguments.

"I never expected to fall in love with someone 46 years younger than me, but I did," the pensioner professed. "I adored everything about Mohamed.

"But it became hard work. We used to have a great sex life but then, rather than making love, we ended up arguing all the time about anything and everything. I can’t be doing with that. I’m not a lovesick teenager. I’m 83."

And now, Mohamed has broken his silence for the first time since his sad split from Iris, taking to social media to share a rather ambiguous message with his concerned followers.

As opposed to addressing the split directly, Egyptian-born Mohamed instead quoted lyrics from the famous Gloria Gaynor song, I Will Survive, in a Facebook post, writing: "At first I was afraid, I was petrified. Kept thinking I could never live without you by my side.

"But then I spent so many nights thinking how you did me wrong. And I grew strong. And I learned how to get along.''

OAP Iris – who previously opened up on their 'careful' sex life on their first anniversary in 2021 – first met her much younger lover on Facebook and within a matter of weeks, he had professed his love to her.

She then arranged to fly over to the Egyptian capital of Cairo to meet him in person – despite her family and friends raising concerns about the relationship.

The loved-up duo tied the knot in a lowkey ceremony in the North African city in 2020, opting to enjoy a feast of KFC on their budget-friendly honeymoon and later moving in together in the UK.

In her post-split interview, Iris confirmed that she "doesn't miss Mohamed at all", revealing that the thing that most annoyed her about their breakup was that Mohamed he took their tempura battered prawns when he left, which she had been planning to eat for her tea.

She also insisted that her new love, a cat named Mr Tibbs – was mending her broken heart, explaining: "I got him just a few days after Mohamed moved out and he’s the perfect companion."
