Revealed: Ellie Goulding, 36, ends her ‘friendship’ with Tory peer Zac Goldsmith, 48,so she can focus on her marriage to art dealer Caspar Jopling
Ellie Goulding has ended her close friendship with Zac Goldsmith to focus on her marriage, the Mail can reveal.
The pair had formed a bond after they both split from their partners – and Lord Goldsmith even began making a sculpture for the singer.
But Ms Goulding, 36, wants to concentrate on her marriage with art dealer Caspar Jopling, 31.
The couple welcomed their first child, Arthur, in 2021. A close friend of Lord Goldsmith said the Tory peer had a relationship with pop star Ms Goulding.

Split: Ellie and her art dealer husband Caspar Jopling, 31, have been living separate lives for at least six months
The source added: ‘It happened independently of matrimonial issues on both sides, and is now categorically over.
‘The relationship had nothing to do with the breakdown of either marriage, but Ellie wants to fix her marriage for the sake of their son and Zac is fully concentrating on his environmental work.’
Ms Goulding’s management had repeatedly denied she and Lord Goldsmith were together, or that they had spoken outside of the work they do together on the environment.
However, they were said to have developed a good friendship after first meeting at the UN Climate Change Conference COP26 in Glasgow. Seven months later they were spotted enjoying a lunch together at upmarket cafe The Garden in Covent Garden.
In October 2022 spent the evening at the same party at the exclusive 5 Hertford Street private members’ club, which is owned by Lord Goldsmith’s half-brother Robin Birley, and more recently were seen giggling together close to the Tory peer’s new home in west London, which he moved into following his separation from his second wife Alice Rothschild.
Last week Lord Goldsmith, 48, took to social media to share a bronze sculpture he had carved for Ms Goulding, with the post reading: ‘Subjects I love, mostly animal or human love… right now it’s just part of a larger sculpture that will be a tree of life’.
A source says he intends to give the artwork to Ms Goulding when it is completed.

The friendship between the pair had been described as an unlikely one, as Lord Goldsmith is the Eton-educated son of late billionaire financier Sir James Goldsmith, while Ms Goulding grew up on a council estate in Herefordshire.
However, the singer has made many friends in high society, including Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie who were guests at her star-studded wedding to Mr Jopling at York Minster in 2019.
Lord Goldsmith was previously married to fellow environmentalist Sheherazade Bentley but they split in 2010.
He resigned as a minister in June after accusing Rishi Sunak of being ‘uninterested’ in the environment.
A spokesman for Mr Goldsmith declined to comment.
