The Inbetweeners actress and comedian Emily Atack has admitted that she sometimes "feels so lonely that she cries herself to sleep".

The 33-year-old has been single since splitting from Big Brother contestant Liam McGough, 39, last year.

She split from Liam following seven months together in what was an "amicable" separation after the couple realised that they were “better off as friends”.

Now, opening up about her love life, she admitted that she lacks self-esteem in relationships.

Speaking to The Sun, Emily said: “People think I fly the flag for all the single ladies, but I’m not afraid to admit being on your own is actually miserable a lot of the time. It’s pretty hard.

“There are times when I go out and I feel confident and sexy on my own and I’m independent.

"But there are times when I cry myself to sleep because it’s lonely and awful, and it’s OK to admit that, I think.”

She admitted she finds it difficult not to "lose herself" when she falls in love.

Emily continued: “This is where I am at the moment — I’m too much of a romantic, it’s actually ruining my life.

“Where I go wrong in life is that I’m known as confident, sexy and all those things, and that’s all great.

“And then the second that I’m in love, I’m absolutely pathetic.”

She described herself as a "serial dater" and is now back in the dating world.

She has previously admitted that she prefers to date younger men rather than 40 year olds who "scare" her.

Chatting on her podcast Soaking Up Life With…. in August with comedian Ellie Taylor, Emily confessed to having flings with toy boys.

She has been previously linked to comedian Seann Walsh, popular singer Harry Styles, Manchester City footballer Jack Grealish and Strictly Come Dancing pro Giovanni Pernice.

Emily Atack shot to fame when she landed the role as Charlotte 'Big Jugs' Hinchcliffe in the popular sitcom The Inbetweeners from 2008 until 2010.

She then visited the jungle on I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! in 2018 where she came second to winner Harry Redknapp.

Outside of her dating life, Emily Atack is often praised for her "powerful" documentary ‘Asking For It?’, which investigates the sexual harassment women and girls are receiving online daily.

Viewers were completely stunned by Emily's experiences, with many women admitting that they'd gone through something similar online.

Emily Atack is currently filming a brand new Disney show called Rivals, starring David Tennant , Aidan Turner and Danny Dyer.
