Emily Atack ‘splits’ from Big Brother tree surgeon Liam McGough after seven month romance

Emily Atack has reportedly split from her tree surgeon boyfriend Liam McGough, just months after the pair went Instagram official.

32 year old Emily, who is set to front a new BBC Two documentary detailing her experience of online sexual harassment, is alleged to have split fromBig Brother star Liam following seven months together in what was an “amicable” separation after the couple realised that they were “better off as friends”.

Speaking toThe Sun, a source claimed that the pair broke up earlier this week and said: “Emily and Liam have been friends for a long time and were together for seven months, but sadly have decided to separate.

“They kept their relationship private for a while and only went public when the news broke that they were together.

“Sadly, they decided they were better off as friends and parted ways a few days ago, but it's all very amicable.”

OK! has contacted a rep for Emily for comment.

Emily had previously gone Instagram official with her beau back in August when she shared a snap on her Instagram Stories of the pair looking loved-up during an alfresco lunch date.

Prior to dating Emily, Liam was known for appearing on the eighth series of Big Brother in 2007 when he was just 22 years old, a movewhich saw him bag £100,000 for appearing on the popular reality TV show.

Since then, the TV personality lives a life away from the spotlight and looks after trees in The Royal Parks and for five-star New York hotels.

Speaking toChronicleLive about his life post Big Brother, Liam explained that his initial fame had come “soulless” following his stint in the house.

“I had people willing to pay me £5,000 to turn up to a nightclub and wave, maybe DJ a little bit or shake some hands,” he said.

“That sort of thing went on for three years. It was all very unnatural – these were the types of nightclubs that probably wouldn't have let me in before I was on Big Brother.”

He continued: “The darker side is that it's fun the first 100 times but then it becomes soulless. You turn into Alan Partridge, in a hotel room every night and your friends have been to one too many of them and aren't up for it anymore.”

Before Emily and Liam were linked, TV presenterEmily had been linked to Strictly Come Dancing professional Giovanni Pernice as they both attended an afterparty for the Brit Awards back in February.
