EMILY PRESCOTT: Liz Hurley back on her feet but a little down at heel

EMILY PRESCOTT: Elizabeth Hurley is back on her feet but a little down at the heel after recovering from her ankle injury

Elizabeth Hurley is finally free of the orthopaedic boot she has been wearing for a month since injuring an ankle ligament – so got to don pair of elegant gold heels to attend Goodwood Festival last week.

But when I complemented her on the heels she insisted: ‘No, no, no. I’m in flats. My first time out in flats.’

Perhaps the shoes are flat by the 57-year-old’s usual standards.

But whether she’ll ever be able to wear her beloved stilettos again is a question she’ll have to discuss with her surgeon, she told me.

Elizabeth Hurley was seen wearing what she described as ‘flats’ at Goodwood Racecourse earlier this week

The actress had been wearing a cast after damaging her ankle ligaments earlier this year

This is not the first time Liz has been disingenuous with her fashion statements.

In 2020 she vowed she would never wear a bikini in public again – a promise her 2.4million Instagram followers are well aware that she has not kept.

Also at the festival, Pixie Lott was in sunny spirits in the Duke of Richmond’s private box.

And no wonder as she’s still on her honeymoon… six weeks after her wedding.

The singer, 31, and her model husband Oliver Cheshire have been gallivanting across Europe on a ‘multi-moon’ and she told me: ‘Just because we’re back, doesn’t mean it’s over.’

Jockeys’ turn for the worse

Goodwood racecourse owner the Duke of Richmond has moved the winning line back 100 metres at this year’s festival – because riders kept falling off their horses after having to turn a sharp corner at the end of races.

‘After jockeys win, the horses keep on going, turn that sharp corner and dislodge them just when they think they are home and dry!’ says the Duke’s son, Will Gordon-Lennox, 25.

Will’s girlfriend Eleanor Lambert can ride but has declined offers to race in the all-female amateur Magnolia Cup race at the festival as she’s so nervous of the hairpin.

Petra Ecclestone’s new businessman husband Sam is fed up with people being obsessed with their private life.

Sam’s recent wedding to Petra, daughter of F1 mogul Bernie, featured a performance by Razorlight, but their joy has been marred by negative social media comments.

Sam has taken particular umbrage with socialite and author of The Perfect Gentleman James Sherwood who said of the marriage: ‘I give it eight months.’

Sam Palmer, the new husband of Petra Ecclestone (both pictured), has hit out at people commenting on their marriage

James has now deleted the post but Sam is still hoping to confront him. ‘If someone can give me his number I will,’ Sam tells me. This could get messy…
