Escape To The Chateau’s Dick and Angel defended by Karren Brady after tape

Escape to the Chateau: Dick teases Angel about the grass

Escape To The Chateau couple Dick Strawbridge and Angel Adoree have been supported by Karren Brady, who has branded their life “stressful”.

The stars of the show have come under fire in recent days, after Channel 4 announced they’d cut ties with them “following a review”.

A recording, obtained by Deadline and heard by Express.co.uk, later came to light reportedly of Angel launching into a foul-mouthed tirade to a producer working for the broadcaster.

In it, the woman who is said to be Angel can be heard calling a member of the Escape to the Chateau film crew a “f*****g c**t”.

While The Apprentice star, 54, has said that it is an example of “truly unacceptable behaviour”, she has explained why it’s “hardly surprising”.

Karren proceeded to defend the busy pair in her latest column for The Sun On Sunday.

She remarked on the demands of television as well as having a family and running a business.

The BBC star said she has “always loved” the programme, which followed the pair as they revamped a dilapidated 19th-century French chateau, before remarking on the recent reports.

She commented: “If that tape is legitimate, then that’s truly unacceptable behaviour. But it’s hardly surprising they were grumpy, is it?

“Moving to a different country, renovating a dilapidated property, all while raising two children, sounds rather stressful.

“And that’s before the added pressure of making a TV show at the same time.”

Karren continued: “As someone with a bit of experience in this area, I think the motto of making TV should be ‘hurry up and wait’.

“To make a TV show you need the patience of a saint – which clearly neither of these two possess.”

In the aforementioned recording, the female questions where the producers, who are not identified, have been before, accusing one of the crew members of posting images on Instagram of a man who looks like her husband Dick.

They can also be heard telling a crew member to leave the chateau once they have finished ranting.

Dick and Angel declined to comment to Deadline and Express.co.uk previously contacted the couple for comment.

A spokesperson for Channel 4 told Express.co.uk: “Following a review we have taken the decision to not work with Dick and Angel on any new productions in the future.”
