Everybody needs good Neighbours! Soaps return date revealed for Amazon comeback

Neighbours fans can officially get excited as the iconic soap's return date has finally been revealed for its big Amazon comeback.

The Aussie soap was axed last summer, after 37 years, with fans devastated at the news, however, it was later announced that it would be making a return to our screens as production company Fremantle signed onto the project with Amazon Freevee.

Fan favourites, including Stefan Dennis as Paul Robinson, Alan Fletcher as Karl Kennedy, Jackie Woodburne as Susan Kennedy and Ryan Moloney as Toadie Rebecchi, are all set to return.

Neighbours fans don't have long to wait to catch up with their favourite characters, as the first episode will air on Amazone Freevee on Monday, September 18.

The show will be available on Amazon Freevee in the UK and U.S, with the platform also releasing thousands of previous episodes before the initial premiere.

It will also stream on Prime Video in Canada, Ireland, South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand.

Episodes will be released each day from Monday to Thursday in the UK and the US, so fans can get their Aussie fix.

Jason Herbison, Neighbours' Executive Producer, said: "All the cast and crew are incredibly excited that Ramsay Street will officially welcome viewers again to the neighbourhood on September 18 in the UK and Australia, and also be introduced to brand new audiences in the US and Canada when the new chapter of Neighbours is unveiled."

The return of the show was announced in November, with Amazon Freevee releasing a short teaser for the upcoming revival that featured some of the show's iconic locations like the Waterhole, Lassiters and The 82.

Fans were thrilled at the news, as one reacted to the clip: "THIS IS THE GREATEST NEWS EVER!!!!!!"

Another said: "I. AM. HAPPY. SHOCKED!!! Best news ever!!!,” whilst a third praised the channel as they wrote: "Thank you so much Freevee we love you!"

Show stars reunited earlier this year to begin filming their scenes for the soap revival.

The official Neighbours social media account posted a snap which included a few members of the cast posing with a ribbon at a ribbon-cutting ceremony on set.

A somewhat surprising addition to the Neighbours cast comes in the form of The OC star Mischa Barton, who played Marissa Cooper on the hit teen show.

She won't be adopting an Australian accent for her role, however, as she will be playing an American woman, named Reece, who mysteriously arrives on Ramsay Street.

Ahead of joining the show, Mischa, who remains best known as The OC's Marissa Cooper which ran from 2003 – 2006, said: "I’m excited to be part of this iconic show’s next chapter, and I am really looking forward to being back in Australia, a place I know and love!

"I think the character of Reece is going to be a great role for me to explore and play with."
