As Donna thanks the Doctor for the help, he quickly piles the boxes back to cover her face so she cannot see his face, to which she retorts: ‘Oi, do you mind?’
This gag is a callback to him needing to wiping Donna’s memories of him in Series 4 finale Journey’s End to save her life after she became part Time Lord in a ‘biological meta-crisis’ with alien’s severed hand bursting with regeneration energy.
While she used her new science skills to stop Davros and the Daleks from destroying the universe, without the Doctor’s intervention her brain would have burned.
The Doctor then takes the boxes back and looks at Donna, who says they are for ‘Rose’ – the name of the companion portrayed by Billie Piper who was the first to kick off the revival in 2005 with Christopher Eccleston’s 9th Doctor.
The Doctor exclaims ‘What? What? What?’ as Donna continues to call for ‘Rose’, as his Rose Tyler should be living on a parallel Earth with a part-human version of the 10th Doctor that was created from his severed hand.
