Co-organiser Emily Eavis on this year’s Glastonbury Festival
Co-organiser of Glastonbury Emily Eavis told BBC Breakfast her father Michael Eavis is “doing really well”, after fans worried about him being in a wheelchair.
Michael sat in a red Land Rover on Worthy Farm in Somerset, as his daughter opened the gates for the festival.
When asked about her 87-year-old father, Emily, 43, told the programme: “He’s over there – he’s still very much here.
“He’s going to be waving everybody in.
“He’s doing really well. He had a late night last night.”

Emily went on to explain Michael had attended an event at the National Portrait Gallery in London on Tuesday night to unveil a painting.
“He’s been out, we’ve all been here, heads down… he’s been off to London to a gallery opening,” she added.
It comes after the dairy farmer, who launched the five-day festival in 1970, sparked concern from some fans over his health.
A new photograph showing Michael in a wheelchair surrounded by family led to worries when it was circulated online.

The family were pictured with Gary Lineker as they opened up affordable homes built on land donated by Michael.
Michael discussed the project, saying: “Pilton is really important to me.
“It’s where I was born, where I have lived man and boy, where I have brought up my family, and, of course, it has been home to the festival for more than 50 years now.”
“With rural house prices so often out of reach for local people, these houses give villagers, most of whom are working families who live around here, the opportunity to live here for the rest of their lives at a social rent.”
