GMB’s Alex Beresford admits wife was ‘upset’ after being snubbed from new show

Good Morning Britain presenter Alex Beresford has opened up about his exciting new TV adventurer, as he admitted his wife Imogen McKay was “upset” to be left out of it.

The ITV weather presenter, 42, has taken part in the latest series of Celebrity Race Across the World, which sees stars leave their mobile phones and credit cards behind to travel thousands of miles in a bid to win £20,000.

Rather than taking Imogen on the adventure, however, Alex opted to take his dad Noel instead.

Explaining his reasoning behind the decision, Alex told Radio Times: “You don’t get to spend this sort of time with your parents as an adult.

“Imogen was upset, as she loves travelling and she’s a fan of the show.

“But, as much as I love her and spending time with her, I’m not sure this was the honeymoon she’d want!

“With hindsight, I think I made the right decision,” he added.

Quizzed on what he was most worried about, Alex confessed: “Not having instant contact with my wife and son – I wasn’t ready to have my phone taken off me as soon as we arrived at Gatwick.

“And I was anxious each time we got to a checkpoint, wondering when we’d get to the next.

There’s a fine line between panic and excitement,” he explained.

Alex shares a son named Cruz with his first wife Natalia Beresford, whom he split from in 2019.

Asked how he got on with his dad throughout their trip, Alex said: “I was surprised when Dad kicked off about some sub-par accommodation, as normally I’d be the one to complain. But I was just thinking of the budget!”

Celebrity Race Across the World will see four pairs of celebrities take a journey spanning 24 countries from Morocco to Norway.
