Gogglebox star admits she ‘doesn’t have a TV’ after five years on iconic show

Celebrity Gogglebox stars watch Sir Elton bow out at Glastonbury

Helena Worthington revealed that despite having starred on Gogglebox for the last five years, she doesn’t actually watch television at home.

She told OK! Magazine: “I don’t have a TV. I go to my mum’s and use her electric to watch the telly.”

The 29-year-old explained that it’s an hour-long bus ride to get to her mum’s house to film Gogglebox once a week.

However, without a television of her own, Helena uses her work on the show to catch up with all the latest television news and entertainment of the week.

She admitted her role on Gogglebox is “a pretty good gig”, adding: “You get to sit down and eat food and watch telly. I always thought that I’d never be able to do that with any sort of kudos.”

Helena appears on the show with her dad George and mum Alison, who also told the outlet that filming Gogglebox is a “lovely” way for the family to spend quality time together every week.

The Worthingtons joined the show in 2017 for series 10 and some other members of their family have made surprise appearances over the years.

In one episode, fans got a glimpse of Helena’s toddler, who wandered into the family lounge to chat and play with his mum and grandparents.

Having been on the show for half a decade, the Worthingtons were able to represent Gogglebox at the TRIC Awards last week, accepting the Best Entertainment Show gong as they surpassed the likes of Strictly Come Dancing and Have I Got News For You.

Aside from her work on Gogglebox, Helena is also an artist specialised in sculpture and painting with a special interest in Ancient History.

Sharing a rare insight into her personal life with I Heart Manchester, the Channel 4 star revealed her bizarre career path long before becoming a TV star as she spent years as a Parisian mime.

She stated: “I am a qualified mime artist and worked in Paris as a street performer for three years.

“My outfit was a striped top, a black beret and I would paint my face white. You know the classic mime look.”
