Hailey Bieber Teaches Us How to Get Her Signature Waves in New YouTube Video

Fulfilling our dreams of seeing the 2003 Lindsey Lohan classic, Freaky Friday, play out right in front of us, Hailey Bieber just swapped beauty routines with celebrity hairstylist, Jen Atkin — and we are living for it!

In her most recent Beauty Tips & Tricks episode which was featured as part of YouTube’s Beautyfest, the social media sensation stepped into the stylist spot to give us the blueprint on how to get the super chic (yet carefree) waves that we have been seeing all over the ‘gram recently.

Before Hailey starts recreating her signature “flick of the wrist style wave” with hot tools, the supermodel prepped Atkin’s hair by adding a few spritzes of the Heat Protection Spray from OUAI, which — *fun fact* — was founded by Jen. With Hailey’s skincare brand Rhode having just come out, we love to see her being pals with fellow female business owners. Plus, it would be an absolute dream if their brands collabed on a scalp care product in the future.

Back to the task at hand, Hailey goes in “section by section” gently bending the hair back and forth to create an S-shape pattern with the Dyson Corrale Cordless Straightener. The expert stylist also praised Hailey for clamping down lightly and using the wrist to control the flat iron as this helps control the pattern and minimize harsh hair dents. Don’t know what that wrist motion should feel like? Jen says it should feel “almost like you’re playing tennis”. So basically, just channel your inner Serena Williams and your look will be perf.

Adding to our styling knowledge, Jen recommends flipping your head upside down and gently backcombing to add volume when building up the hair with a texturizing or finishing spray,

With a quick butterfly separating action of the strands, the hair look is done! The two then move on to skincare to see if Jen can match Hailey’s skincare prowess with a showing of what products Atkin uses.

Starting with — of course — Rhode, Jen applies the Peptide Glazing Fluid in what she calls “the four-point system on the face,” where she applies dots of the product on the forehead, chin, and each cheek. This way, when she goes to rub in the product, the serum will be evenly distributed across the face.

While she doesn’t give us a tutorial on this, Jen then explains that she likes to use face massaging tools, saying that they “Are good for blood flow and collagen production.”

The two mentioned are the Shani Darden Facial Sculpting Wand and the NuFACE Trinity Wrinkle Reducer, which uses red light that is good for “Inflammation, anti-aging, and acne,” according to Hailey.

Giving Rhode another whirl, Jen applies the Barrier Restore Cream for extra plumping action. Before moving on, Hailey reminds us to apply moisturizer to the neck and chest, as these areas crave hydration as well.

On deck next is the Summer Fridays Heavenly Sixteen Face Oil. Hails says that she loves “Going to bed at night with some oil on my face,” adding that she always wants “to go to bed looking like nothing less than a glazed donut.”

Another area of the face that appreciates the glazed donut effect is the lips. Hailey recommends layering on the moisture at night to prevent having dry and cracked lips in the morning. After applying Rhode’s Peptide Lip Treatment, the supermodel reveals that she has “picked a big range of scents that will continue to come out and be dropped,” meaning the watermelon and salted caramel flavors are about to get flankers!

For Jen’s final step, she reveals that she likes to add Kylie Skin Clarifying Patches to spot-treat pimples. Hailey adds that these adorable hearts “suck everything out”. And by everything, she means all that yucky stuff a pimple exudes throughout its lifecycle.

And there we have it — Hailey and Jen’s hair and skincare routines as demonstrated on one another! Liked what you saw? Here’s where you can find each of the products they used:
