Hairy Bikers Dave Myers sends message to fans on birthday while battling cancer

Hairy Bikers presenter Dave Myers took to Instagram on Friday to thank fans for their “lovely wishes” as he celebrated his 66th birthday.

The chef could be seen enjoying the occasion in a sun-soaked photo, in which he was snapped looking down at the view from a balcony.

Dave posed with his arms aloft next to a palatial building, while wearing a striped shirt and jeans.

The BBC star, who is battling cancer, sported a victorious expression on his face as he posed comically for the photo opportunity.

Dave captioned the post, which was shared to The Hairy Bikers’ official Instagram page run by him and co-star Si King: “Had a lovely birthday, thank you for your lovely wishes! Dave x.”

Dave and Si recently returned to filming together after taking a “break” from their schedule as the former underwent cancer treatment.

Fans were overjoyed when the pair shared an update on their forthcoming projects last week.

Appearing in a video together on location in Portmeirion, Wales, they announced: “Hello everyone! We’ve been busy bees filming a new, exciting series for you.

“New episodes of the podcast will commence once filming is done! Love Si and Dave.”

Dave, who is passionate about food, explained last year how his taste-buds had changed due to chemotherapy.

The presenter admitted that at the time, he could only get interested in unusual food combinations such as “cottage pie with Vimto”.

“Lil [wife Liliana Orzac] is sitting down with a really nice glass of burgundy and I’ve got a pint of Vimto!” the star joked, poking fun at his tastes on an episode of Kate Thornton’s White Wine Question Time.
