It is a plot twist worthy of the TV dramas she stars in.

Actress Gillian Anderson appears to have rekindled her relationship with The Crown creator Peter Morgan.

The pair, who dated for four years until 2020, were pictured hand-in-hand in central London.

Ms Anderson, 54, looked stylish in a black aviator-style jacket with black trousers and heels, while Morgan, 59, was dressed casually in trainers, brown trousers and a dark hooded jacket.

The couple never lived together when they dated, with Ms Anderson once joking: ‘If we did, that would be the end of it.’

The split was reportedly amicable, with suggestions that their highly demanding work schedules played a part in the relationship ending.

Within weeks of their split Morgan was dating film-maker Jemima Khan but the pair called it quits by February 2021.

The pair reportedly fell out in after Morgan failed to portray Princess Diana’s story as ‘respectfully or compassionately’ as Ms Khan, a friend of the princess’s, had hoped in The Crown.

Ms Anderson, who played Margaret Thatcher in series four of the Netflix drama, attended the show’s series five premiere at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, last November.

A source at the time said: ‘She and Peter are good friends again, and she was there to support him. It’s not clear whether this extends into a romance they are a very private pair.’

Ms Anderson, who plays uninhibited sex therapist Jean Milburn in another hit Netflix show, Sex Education, recently to write to her about about their sex lives for a book she is working on.

Writing in the Guardian, she said: ‘I want women across the world, and all of you who identify intrinsically as women now – queer, heterosexual and bisexual, non-binary, transgender, polyamorous – all of you, old and young, whatever your religion, and married, single or other, to write to me and tell me what you think about when you think about sex.’
