The 95th Academy Awards played host to an array of awkward and perplexing moments, from Tem’s scandalous view-blocking dress to a man in a bear suit joining Elizabeth Banks to present the Best Visual Effects award. The evening was off to an uncomfortable start right from the celebrity arrivals as model-turned-interviewer Ashley Graham, 35, suffered a painful 40-second interview with Hugh Grant, 62, that has caused a public outcry against the “rude” actor.

Debating the various embarrassing moments from this year’s awards on Piers Morgans’ TalkTV show, earlier this week, Kingston University chancellor Bonnie Greer argued that the actor’s “rude” interview is “the brand of Hugh Grant”.

She declared: “The brand of Hugh Grant is to be just who he was. (Ashley Graham) didn’t know that. I knew it.”

The Love Actually star has been in the spotlight for almost three decades, with the public gazing on through a multitude of awkward moments.

From self-admitted “tantrums” on set to being branded a “pain in the a**” by talk show hosts and now most recently his publicly-televised awkward run-in at the Oscars, which sparked an equally large public reaction on social media.

However, the actor has recently admitted to another “terrible” encounter which saw him yelling at a child’s chaperone on set.

While filming Dungeons & Dragons: Honour Among Thieves, in which Hugh is set to play the antagonist, the actor became increasingly frustrated on the very first day of filming.

He told TotalFilm: “I lost my temper with a woman in my eyeline on day one. I assumed she was some executive from the studio who should have known better.”

However, Hugh soon realised the woman was actually chaperoning a young girl who was working on the film too and claimed he did “a lot of grovelling” to apologise for the “terrible” mistake.

Shortly after the actor became Hollywood royalty with his role in the iconic Love Actually, Hugh was invited on The Daily Show, hosted by Trevor Noah’s predecessor Jon Stewart at the time.

Following Hugh’s appearance, Jon claimed, according to Your Tango, that the actor had been one of the worst guests on the show.

The host added that Hugh had been “giving everyone s**t the whole time” and branded him “a big pain in the a**”.

A few years later, Hugh appeared on The Graham Norton Show where host Graham was able to compile a lengthy list of quotes he had said about his female costars being “insane”.

In a 2009 Elle profile, the actor reportedly branded Emma Thompson “mad as a chair”, Renee Zellweger as “far from sane” and claimed he “can’t understand a word” from any of her emails before noting she is “one of the few actresses I haven’t fallen out with”.

Hugh admitted to Graham Norton that the list of actresses who “definitely hate me” include Julianne Moore, Rachel Weisz and Drew Barrymore.

The Four Weddings and a Funeral star revealed he had actually made the latter “cry” while they were costars on the 2007 film Music and Lyrics.

The actor elaborated, declaring that Drew had “made the mistake of giving me notes” about his performance.

During the cringeworthy interview at the Oscars on Sunday, Hugh kept his answers incredibly curt, declaring that he wasn’t rooting for anyone in particular, bluntly revealed he was wearing “my suit” and “almost” had fun filming Knives Out: Glass Onion.

The final straw for fans came as the actor walked away after the interview and seemingly rolled his eyes at Ashley, with broadcaster Piers Morgan branding him “a d**k” for his behaviour.

Speaking on his talk show, the broadcaster shared: “To me, he behaved like a d**k. He just treated Ashley Graham, I felt, with total disrespect and he pretended like the job of somebody on a red carpet, an actor at the Oscars, is not to talk to the media.”

On Monday, the model herself reacted to the awkward exchange, telling TMZ: “You know what, my mama told me to kill people with kindness, so there you go.”
