ICYMI: Jason Aldean's wife sparks feud with female country artists over anti-trans comments, more news

Trans joke

Jason Aldean’s wife, Brittany Aldean, sparked a feud with a few major country artists after making a trans joke on Instagram. “I’d really like to thank my parents for not changing my gender when I went through my tomboy phase. I love this girly life,” she said on Instagram. Soon after, Maren Morris, Cassadee Pope, Brandi Carlile and more unleashed. “It’s so easy to, like, not be a scumbag human? Sell your clip-ins and zip it, Insurrection Barbie,” Maren commented. However, many others supported Jason’s wife, especially other country spouses. “Southern Charm” star Madison LeCroy also showed her support for Brittany, commenting on her original post “same!” with three laughing-crying emojis. On Aug. 31, Jason’s wife claimed her “words have been taken out of context.” The fallout, it seems has also affected Jason: On Sept. 1, top Nashville public relations firm The GreenRoom parted ways with the Grammy winner. “Music has always been and remains The GreenRoom’s core focus, so we had to make the difficult decision after 17 years to step away from representing Jason,” its co-owner told Billboard in a statement. “We aren’t the best people for the gig anymore, but will always be big fans of his music — he is one of the greatest live entertainers in country music.”

Fun while it lasted

The streak continues. Leonardo DiCaprio has still never dated anyone older than 25. On Aug. 30, multiple outlets, starting with People magazine, confirmed the Oscar winner, 47, and model-actress Camila Morrone, who turned 25 in June, had split up after more than four years together.

Sad reflection

After the loss of her only son two years ago, Lisa Marie Presley was “completely detonated and destroyed.” On Aug. 31, to commemorate National Grief Awareness Day, Lisa reflected on the death of Benjamin Keough, who died by suicide on July 12, 2020. “My and my three daughters’ lives as we knew it were completely detonated and destroyed by his death. We live in this every. Single. Day,” Lisa Marie wrote in a lengthy essay shared by People magazine. “I’ve dealt with death, grief and loss since the age of 9 years old. I’ve had more than anyone’s fair share of it in my lifetime and somehow, I’ve made it this far. But this one, the death of my beautiful, beautiful son? The sweetest and most incredible being that I have ever had the privilege of knowing, who made me feel so honored every single day to be his mother? Who was so much like his grandfather on so many levels that he actually scared me? Which made me worry about him even more than I naturally would have? No. Just no … no no no no …” she wrote, adding, “It’s a real choice to keep going, one that I have to make every single day and one that is constantly challenging to say the least … But I keep going for my girls.”

Album news

A stunner. While accepting the MTV VMA for video of the year this week, Taylor Swift announced that she’s releasing a new album next month. “I wouldn’t be able to re-record my albums if it weren’t for you,” she told her fans during her acceptance speech. “You emboldened me to do that. And I had made up my mind that if you were going to be this generous and give us this [award], I thought it might be a fun moment to tell you that my brand new album comes out Oct. 21. And I will tell you more at midnight.” A few hours later, at midnight on Aug. 29, she revealed the album — “Midnights” — will have 13 tracks. “This is a collection of music written in the middle of the night, a journey through terrors and sweet dreams,” she wrote on Instagram. “The floors we pace and the demons we face. For all of us who have tossed and turned and decided to keep the lanterns lit and go searching — hoping that just maybe, when the clock strikes twelve … we’ll meet ourselves.”

Quickie divorce

When you know, you know… when it’s over. Just 16 days after “Mad Men” actor Vincent Kartheiser filed to divorce “Gilmore Girls” and “The Handmaid’s Tale” actress Alexis Bledel in New York after eight years of marriage, a judge signed off on their split. On Aug. 31, Page Six confirmed that court records showed the order for the divorce was signed on Aug. 26 and the case is now disposed.

Nasty split

Sylvester Stallone has denied his estranged wife’s allegations that he’s hiding marital assets. On Aug. 29, the “Rocky” actor filed a response to Jennifer Flavin’s divorce filing, saying in court documents that he isn’t “engaged in the intentional dissipation, depletion and/or waste of marital assets which has had an adverse economic impact on the marital estate.” Sly did agree to the former model’s request to have “exclusive use” of their Palm Beach, Florida, estate. He also didn’t fight her request to restore her maiden name, and agreed that their 25-year marriage was “irretrievably broken.”

Football fight

Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen are reportedly in an epic fight right now because of his job. “There’s been trouble in the marriage over his decision to un-retire. Gisele has always been the one with the kids,” a source told Page Six. “They had agreed he would retire to focus on the family, then he changed his mind.” The source added, “It’s almost like Gisele was like, ‘Well, if you’re going to keep playing, so will I.’ She’s resentful that Tom is still the football superstar.” Tom famously retired earlier this year but then un-retired six weeks later. “Tom and Gisele are in a fight right now,” a separate source said, adding that Tom’s decision to return to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers is at the crux of the tension. The supermodel has reportedly left their family compound in Tampa for Costa Rica, the report claimed.
