‘I’m so over this – I’m in so much pain!’ Jess Wright shares painful psoriasis battle

Jess Wright has told how her psoriasis has left her ‘in so much pain’ as she shared an update on her sore skin condition.

The 37 year old former The Only Way Is Essex star, who appeared on the reality TV show from 2010 until 2016, shared her frustrations with fans on social media by posting an image of her arm suffering from a flare-up. Alongside the snap, she wrote: “And sooo over it. F**k you psoriasis. Not even sorry for my language.”

Psoriasis is an autoimmune condition that causes raised scaly patches on the skin which form itchy, flaky scales. It's usually the result of skin cells replacing themselves faster than they should.

In the UK, one in 50 people are affected, with the symptoms ranging from mild irritation to extreme pain. Kim Kardashian, Strictly's Alijaz Skorjanec, Malin Andersson and Love Island star Olivia Bowen are among other celebs who suffer from the condition.

Earlier this month, mum of one Jess, who is the sister of Mark Wright, was praised by fans for ‘being real’ and sharing pictures of her condition on Instagram, with August being psoriasis awareness month. She posted an image of a flare-up on her arms and legs, while wearing a short black dress.

She captioned the post: “This is me.”

One fan said: "This has made me so emotional! I have forever hated my psoriasis and am forever trying to cover it up and treat it! Thank you for sharing and spreading awareness."

Another added: "This will help so many others be confident and proud of their skin."

Last month, Jess gave her followers an update on the condition and claimed it had become worse after lowering her medication to retreat it. Taking to social media, she wrote: "Apologies for my absence on discussing my ongoing battle with psoriasis, however here it is. In November I went to a specialist and I was put on a form of medication in the hope that it would stop it in its tracks, calm it down and then when I came off the meds after around a year, it wouldn't be as aggressive."

She continued: "This medication cleared nearly all my psoriasis which was wonderful for a little while, however side effects of the meds started to creep in and become more evident which didn't make me feel great and then when I tried lowering the dose, the psoriasis started to come back with a vengeance."

She then added: "It's actually, I'd say on a par with how it was before, if not worse. And it's actually really sore. So frustrating.

"I'm posting this because so many of you have messaged me asking how its going and I've not been updating you so here it is."

She went on to write: "Sorry I don't have better news and a miracle cure for you all, I feel your frustration guys. Repeat after me 'F*** you psoriasis."
