So, which character got killed off? Warning: spoilers below…

Caitlin Snow was killed as a result of trying to back Frost (also Danielle Panabaker). However, as seen in the first episode, Danielle is still around as a new character, who goes by Snow, has emerged. Snow is able to go back into the chamber to save either Frost or Caitlin, but decided to choose herself.

“I will say that that was a bit of a surprise to me. I think [showrunner] Eric had this great idea that I could play another character, which obviously is super flattering that they’ve trusted me to play so many different characters over the last nine seasons,” Danielle told TV Insider. “I was surprised to hear that the birth of a new character would come at the death of another character, but also excited. As an actor, particularly on a show that’s gone this long, to be able to constantly have new challenges and new characters to create and new things to do has been a real gift.”

With Snow staying, she has decided to go by Khione, which is the name that Caitlin’s father gave Killer Frost years ago. Khione now starts with a blank slate.

“I think it’s a really interesting conundrum that she finds herself in,” Danielle adds. “Khione is really innocent and is really naive, which is a different character and a different perspective than I think we’ve ever seen from someone who walks in sort of knowing who Barry is and knowing about The Flash so quickly. So she is young and naive, but she’s also being given information at an incredible rate.”

Returning in the episode was Hartley Rathaway (Andy Mientus), who destroyed the chamber. We’ll be seeing more of him in the season.

If you missed it, another CW series killed off one of it’s OG characters as well…
