Inside Happy Mondays Bezs wedding with Rowetta as best woman and biggest party ever

Happy Mondays star Bez finally married his fiancée and partner of ten years, Firouzeh Razavi, over the weekend, in an extravagant wedding that included Games of Thrones-style activities, a free bar and a huge white pimp hat for the groom.

The 58 year old, real name Mark Berry, divulged all the details of his big day exclusively to OK! revealing that it was a big party-style wedding and that he put a lot of effort into organising the big day alongside 39 year old personal trainer Firouzeh.

He said: “I do love a good party still – I’m looking forward to the party for the wedding because I put a lot of effort into it. I’ve been in charge of the party and Frou’s been in charge of the wedding."

The wedding took place on a Hertfordshire estate and the nuptials themselves were held in a church, with bandmate Rowetta acting as 'best woman', before the party really got started in huge luxury teepee tents. Guests danced the night away and enjoyed free drinks all day, courtesy of the new husband and wife.

Both the bride and groom were dressed in white and Celebrity Gogglebox star Bez was dressed to impress in a tailored suit with a gold trim and buttons on the waistcoat and he sported a huge white top hat on his head.

Of his custom-made outfit, Bez said in his typically Northern way of speaking: "My suit was made for me by a friend and it looked cool as f**k. I looked like some mother******g pimp.

“It looks the part with the top hat. It looked really cool, but modern as well.”

The bride – known as Frou – was dressed in a princess-style gown that featured an elaborate diamonte-encrusted bodice and a billowing tulle skirt, and she and Bez made sure to strike a pose with their two pet dachshunds after the ceremony.

Speaking of her dress, Frou said: "The dress, I’ve not seen any other dress like it. It’s a couture dress, and it was the first dress I tried on.

"Straight away I was like, ‘Oh, wow’, and so were my sisters and my mum and it was exactly what I imagined."

The happy couple were all smiles as they sipped champagne and enjoyed a ride on a Victorian-style carriage with plumes of white feathers attached to the albino horses pulling it along as the new bride and groom waved at their wedding party.

Bez revealed that the couple had originally intended to get married Game of Thrones-style – inspired by the show's fictional characters Robb Stark and Talisa Maegyr – by having their hands bound together under a wooden “Stonehenge” that Bez had carved himself.

In the end though, they opted for a more traditional church ceremony, however, they honoured Firouzeh's Persian heritage by exchanging bowls of honey sourced from bees that Bez keeps at his country house in Manchester.

Frou said of the ceremony: "We got married in St Mary’s in Kent Church, Herefordshire. We’re not really religious, but we have our beliefs.

"It’s not about being religious, it’s about being a good person. But you’ve got to have some belief – we wouldn’t be getting married in a church if we didn’t have some belief.

"There is a higher power, and whatever that higher power is, it’s different for everyone."

They still gave a nod to Game of Thrones as they took part in a pagan-style ritual which saw them jump over a stick.

Frou said: "We were greedy and had two ceremonies – a pagan one where we jumped over a stick to show our bond, and because I’m half-Persian we’re going to have a table – in a pagan ceremony you have a table called the suffrach, and it’s a table with items that symbolise something different."

Onto the party, there was a speech from 'best woman', Happy Mondays backing singer and former X Factor star Rowetta, 56, who also sang at the reception – as did bride Frou who penned her own "cheesy" song for her new husband.

She said: “I wrote a song for him, a really cheesy, soppy love song called My Happiness. It’s extremely cheesy."

It didn't seem to be too cheesy for Bez though, as he lauded his wife, saying: “Frou’s song was great and the whole day was great.

Bez's best man, Happy Mondays frontman and Bez's Celeb Gogglebox co-star Shaun Ryder couldn't make it to the wedding, but he sent the pair a message on their big day.

Bez said: “It was going to be Shaun but he’s away working , and Shaun did a video message – his wife and kids came and the rest of the band came.

"And Rowetta was my best woman. The speech was what it was – I’ve got no control may or may not come out of anyone’s mouth. It was a great laugh.”

Guests enjoyed free-flowing drinks, cocktails, watermelon and pineapple salads, and meats slow-cooked over an open fire and they were entertained by a live band named The Trojans.

Revealing more about the evening party, Bez said: "We had top marquees and we had two stages with different music, campfires, tepees, the wooden henge, so the party side was really good.

"We had a guy doing cooking over an open fire and it took seven hours to do it all."

Bez didn't come prepared with a speech, saying: "I was under the impression I didn’t have to do a speech, but I just knocked one off out of the top of my head.

However, he said if he were to do one, his vows would be "drink and be merry".

Although Bez is known for his drug-fuelled past, he's a lot calmer since he's been with Frou, although they both still enjoy an alcoholic drink.

Frou said of her and Bez's wedding: “This wedding was the biggest party we’ve ever put on.

“We still have fun and he might have been a really big party person in the past, but that was then. Nothing from his Happy Mondays days can shock me now. I’m sure he’s got a lot of stories that he’s not told me and I can imagine what’s happened.

“He’ll tell me the odd thing, like when he went to the Rock In Rio festival and they were in a hotel with Guns ‘N’ Roses, and they ended up being crazier than Guns ‘N’ Roses. I can imagine.

“We drink at a party, and Bez likes to enjoy himself still. We love a bottle of tequila and we love margheritas, so that’s how we roll."

The couple met ten years ago whilst on a night out with mutual friends in Manchester, before quickly moving in together, but Bez admitted that Frou "played hard to get".

Bez popped the question in a romantic mountain proposal in October 2021, as they enjoyed a picnic with friends and family including the rocker's sons, Arlo, 30, Jack, 28, and Leo, 13, from previous relationships.

He said of his new wife: "We have a great relationship and we both look after each other, and it’s great. It doesn’t even seem like we’ve been together for 10 years – it still feels fresh, the relationship."
