ITV Coronation Street’s Kimberly Hart-Simpson addresses return as Nicky Wheatley

Kimberly Hart-Simpson has opened up about the possibility of returning to Coronation Street. At the time of writing, the actor has already completed two stints as the teaching assistant Nicky Wheatley.

Way back in June 2020, the 36-year-old’s character was introduced to the soap as a love interest for Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard). However, in October of the same year, it was announced that Kimberly had filmed her final scenes in Weatherfield a month prior.

In December 2021, it was confirmed that the actor was reprising her role as Nicky, with the first scenes from her second outing airing in March 2022. However, in July, the star posted to Instagram to say she had departed the soap for a second time.

However, in an exclusive interview with Express.co.uk, the Welsh star has revealed that she is still interested in rejoining the long-running ITV show. In an interview at the Heart Hero Awards, the BHF Retail Ambassador admitted that “nobody knows what the future holds”.

When asked about a potential return, Kimberly explained: “I mean I have returned. I would absolutely love to go back there of course.

Elsewhere on the red carpet, Kimberly also gushed about her co-star and Strictly Come Dancing favourite Ellie Leach.

The Brassic actor said that while she “didn’t film any scenes” with the 22-year-old, she had previously caught up with her in the “green room”.

“She is absolutely lovely,” said the Hart-Work fashion boutique founder. “She thoroughly deserves every single moment of success she’s getting right now.”

On Wednesday (6 December), Kimberly attended the annual British Heart Foundation’s Heart Hero Awards at Glaziers Hall in London.
