ITV ‘offer to provide therapy for This Morning staff’ after Phillip Schofield scandal

It’s been reported that ITV bosses have offered to provide therapy for employees at This Morning left shaken by Phillip Schofield’s departure.

An anonymous source spoke to The Sun: “The executives recognise their duty of care towards their employees, particularly given the intense scrutiny they have faced during this public scandal. They have explicitly informed everyone that counselling is available should they wish to seek support.”

It comes after host Holly Willoughby admitted in a heartfelt statement on the show that she was feeling “shaken, troubled” and “let down” after her former co-star decided to quit the show “with immediate effect.”

Amid claims that the show is "toxic", Holly also alluded to the fact that she might be concerned for the crew, as she said she was “worried for the wellbeing of people on all sides.”

The 42 year old presenter confessed that she had “a lot to process” still, and ended her speech by embracing her This Morning colleague Josie Gibson, who is among those who’ve stepped in since Phillip’s departure.

Holly, who returned to the show on 5 June, has also been joined on the famous sofa by Dermot O’Leary, Alison Hammond and Craig Doyle.

However, This Morning is yet to decide on a permanent replacement for Phillip Schofield.

Fans of the show have been calling for surprise fan favourite Craig Doyle to take the gig full time after they noticed a natural chemistry between him and Holly.

Viewers on Twitter argued that Holly seemed “more relaxed” with him than any of her other temporary co-hosts, and that he brought a “such a warmth and calmness” to the sofa.

Other suggested replacements have included Alison Hammond, who is the firm bookies’ favourite at 4/1, Rylan Clark, Dermot O’Leary and Big Brother alum Josie Gibson.

However, some celebs think that Holly should be replaced on the show as well.

Former Atomic Kitten Kerry Katona has branded the star “fake” and “soulless” in an interview with OK! Magazine, and called for her to be replaced by Amanda Holden.

“People want realness,” Kerry, 42, said. “No one believes Holly any more. I’d have more respect for her if she left This Morning.”

“I’d like Amanda Holden and Rylan to present it,” she added.

OK! has approached ITV for comment.
