Jada Pinkett Smith shocked fans with a major bombshell insight on her marriage to Academy Award winner Will Smith.
The pair have been largely credited as one of the most steadfast couples in Hollywood, having tied the knot in 1997, with fans being completely oblivious to the realities of their romance in recent years.
The 52-year-old claimed to People that she and Will have been separated for seven years, since 2016.
She also confirmed that they were even living separately when the King Richard star slapped comedian Chris Rock at the Oscars last year after the awards show host made a joke about Jada’s hair loss due to her alopecia.
The outburst made headlines, and memes, across the globe as Will proclaimed at the time: “Keep my wife’s name out your f***ing mouth.”

With Jada’s revelation casting new light on the entire situation, the actress explained that she and Will don’t currently know where their marriage will go next, explaining that they’re trying to “figure it out” and are doing “really heavy-duty work together”.
The mother-of-two reassured fans by emphasizing that they still have a “deep love” for each other despite their current difficulties.
Jada also went on to thank their shared children, Jaden and Willow, as well as Will’s son from a previous relationship Trey, for standing by her and sharing their “unconditional love” for both her and their father.
Later, Jada spoke with Today anchor Hoda Kotb, airing out more never-before-heard truths about her separation from Will, as she explained: “‘By the time we got to 2016, we were just exhausted with trying. I think we were both still stuck in our fantasy of what we thought the other person should be.”

The revelation comes in the midst of the actress’ publicity tour for her new book, Worthy, which reportedly contains more startling insights on her personal life, including her battle with depression after turning 40.
An excerpt of the memoir obtained by People hints at her separation after nearly two decades of marriage as the actress pens: “On paper, it all looked grand – I had the beautiful family, the superstar husband, the lavish lifestyle, fame and fortune.”
The Red Table Talk host quickly adds that behind the glitz and glamour: “I’d fallen into despair and wanted to be on this earth less and less.”
