TV chef James Martin has been encouraged by his fans to “relax” after he announced that he would be taking a break to undergo facial cancer treatment.

The 51-year-old is currently embarking on a tour where he’s visiting 20 cities and towns across the UK, finishing on November 12 at the iconic London Palladium.

However, the presenter took the opportunity during his Liverpool show to reveal that he’ll be taking a break after his tour.

He admitted: “On a personal note, I just wanted to say thank you for 30 years of television.”

James also shared a photo of himself ahead of his Manchester live show, but one fan has urged for him to “rest”.

Posting on Instagram, the presenter wrote: “Manchester we are here and I can’t wait…last 3 days to go of the tour! #ontour #ontheroadagain #jamesmartintour.” (sic)

Many of his 730,000 followers flocked to the comments section, with one writing: “And then relax xx.”

In another post where he thanked his Glasgow fans, one person penned: “Excellent show, filled with laughter and great recipes. I hope your upcoming treatment goes well James and I can’t wait to come see you again.”

A second typed: “Absolutely brilliant thank you , looking forward to you buying a house in Scotland. Wishing you all the best with your health.”

During his Liverpool gig, he shared that he’ll be getting his cancer “sorted at the end of the month”.

“For me personally, I’ve been through a lot of s**t with cancer but I’m getting sorted at the end of next month,” he said.

“I will be back fighting at the end of February but I’m going on a little bit of a break to get that sorted.

“I just wanted to say thank you for all of your support and all your messages.”
