Janet Jackson and Britney Spears ‘bonded by backlash’ of Justin Timberlake

Britney Spears and Janet Jackson share a common history with Justin Timberlake, and now Jackson is offering Spears her support.

Spears’ struggles, particularly those involving her past relationship with Timberlake, are revisited in her memoir The Woman in Me.

The breakup with Timberlake in 2002 cast Spears in a negative light after Timberlake suggested she was unfaithful.

Jackson faced public condemnation following a 2004 Super Bowl incident in which Timberlake tore her costume, exposing her on live television.

While Jackson faced significant fallout, Timberlake’s career remained largely unaffected.

Sources report that Jackson has reached out to Spears amid the renewed attention on Spears’ past, offering support based on their shared experiences of negative press they believe was influenced by Timberlake.

A source told The Mirror: “Janet and Britney are still bonded by the backlash and Janet has reached out to offer her support and encouragement.

“Britney was appalled by the way Janet was treated during the Super Bowl and felt she was being attacked by the same PR machine that had denigrated her.”

Timberlake, 42, has issued an apology for his actions that negatively impacted both women, acknowledging his part in their public scrutiny and expressing regret for not standing up for what was right.

He said: “I am deeply sorry for the times in my life where my actions contributed to the problem, where I spoke out of turn or did not speak up for what was right. I specifically want to apologise to Britney Spears and Janet Jackson, both individually, because I care for and respect these women and I know that I failed.”
