Strictly Come Dancing star Janette Manrara is back home from her holiday in Slovenia, where her husband Aljaz Škorjanec was born. Taking to her Instagram Story today, the dancer said it was good to be back, but addressed the “tough” recent few days following the Queen’s death.

The 38-year-old appeared to be referring to the UK’s sadness following the monarch’s death aged 96 this month.

In view of her 501,000 followers yesterday, she said of the late monarch: “Today is a sad day in the United Kingdom.

“The UK is our home, and HM Queen Elizabeth was our Queen.

“Her strength, her sense of duty, her devotion…. things I will admire always.

“A woman whom in a world filled with anger, hatred, fear…. was a constant for the last 70 years.”

Janette concluded her post, writing: “Thank you ma’am for everything.”

Talking to fans today, Janette said: “It’s been a really really tough few days here at home in the UK.

“So, it’s nice to be back home.

“I got in late last night and I’ve just finished a workout because you know, I was away a lot this summer.

“When I’m on holiday, I just enjoy myself, that’s the whole point, so I eat what I want and don’t really work out, I just go with the flow.”

The dancer went on to say she was now looking forward to getting back into a fitness routine particularly as Strictly is back imminently.

Janette will be returning as a co-host on Strictly: It Takes Two alongside Rylan Clark next week.

The presenter rose to fame on the show as a dancer, performing with a celebrity partner for eight years.

She stepped down from her professional duties on the dance floor to front Strictly’s spin-off show in 2021.

Last year, her husband Aljaz also decided to leave after the series finished.

Reacting to the news at the time, she said her heart was filled with “sadness”.

“At the same time there is so much joy in my heart for what he has brought to the show these past 9 years,” she added.

“As his wife and best friend, I could not be happier to know that he made so many smile during his time in Strictly; not just those who were watching from home, but also those who work behind the scenes.”

She went on to thank her fans for giving him love and support throughout his time on the show.

Strictly Come Dancing airs Friday at 7pm on BBC One.
