Johnny Depp, 59, has revealed that he has been the target of scammers, with the Hollywood actor taking to Instagram this week to share a lengthy warning. The Pirates of the Caribbean star called out the “fraudulent imposters” who are “promising” time with him in exchange for cash.

A statement was shared on Johnny’s Instagram, with the message including a stark warning to his loyal 18.5 million followers.
It read: “We have been made aware that there continues to be fraudulent imposters pretending to be Johnny or those on his team, offering meetings and promising time with him, often for payment.
“Some of these attempts appear to be quite convincing, for example, by digitally mimicking his voice and using other forms of communication that appear to be authentic.
“Please be aware that these are scams. It is not Johnny or anyone from his team.
“These people are criminals trying to make money off of vulnerable, kind people.
“If you are aware of this happening, or have been targeted yourself, please report it to the online fraud teams at your local police forces.”
Johnny’s legal team finished the post including all of his official social media handles as well as retiring that the Hollywood actor “does not communicate” with fans via email, fan sites, Whatsapp, Signal, Telegram, texts or phone calls.
The last sentence read: “Be safe and please do not fall for these crooks.”
Johnny issued a similar warning on Instagram back in June, as he garnered increased public attention due to the high-profile court case with his ex-wife Amber Heard.
The Jack Sparrow actor ultimately won his case against Heard after she wrote an op-ed in 2018 stating she was a survivor of domestic abuse.
Although Heard did not name Depp, the actor argued the article defamed him and he lost out on major Hollywood roles.
For example, he ceased to play Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean and Grindelwald in the Fantastic Beasts franchise.
Both Heard and Depp’s legal teams are appealing aspects of the jury’s verdict from the Fairfax County courtroom in Virginia.
The trial was televised daily and received an overwhelming response on social media throughout.
Johnny has also remained the face of Dior Sauvage, with new reports claiming he recently signed a seven-figure sum with the brand.
According to TMZ, Johnny signed the new deal after fashion photographer Greg Williams attended one of Johnny and Jeff Beck’s gigs in Paris.
According to the Wall Street Journal, Dior has kept the Hollywood actor on due to the increase in sales from the cologne, through the brand and its competitor, Ulta.
