Jonnie Irwin hints at return to work sharing ‘behind the scenes’ clip

Jonnie Irwin was in agony after he injured himself on his “last ever ride” to nursery with young son, who will start primary school next month.

He shared a photo of his ankle with an ice pack attached to it with his 186,000 followers, groaning: “When you forget the builder has removed your door step…”

Followers attempted to lighten the presenter’s mood in the wake of the injury, with @rachelkayhop chuckling: “Oh FFS!!! If you keep wearing those silly stilettos!”

Meanwhile, @nannynetty56 advised the “RICE” technique: “Rest, ice, compression & elevation”, after urging Jonnie to “take it easy”.

He was inundated with support, while some had similar stories of their own to share.

@maylorjane_glitterqueen joked: “You are grounded for 24 hours! I have fallen on a doorstep that was no longer there and landed at my mum’s feet whilst trying to argue I was sober at 18! She still teases me now about it x.”

Just hours earlier, the doting dad had been all smiles as he proudly shared a picture of himself perched on a bike ready for his milestone moment with his son.

“Last EVER ride to nursery with Rex. Suitably waved off by Rafa and his spade and Rex with his game face on!” he’d chuckled.

Although the trip had taken a bad turn after he headed back home, he has remained positive while continuing to bravely battle cancer.

@smileyme05 praised: “Jonnie those boys will learn so much about your strength and tenacity, memories to last them their lifetime. You’re truly inspirational and what a Daddy you have shown them to be!”

@preet.gill.35325074 chimed in: “You are just the best Jonnie. I always liked you the best on Place in the Sun and Escape to the Country. Your goodness always shone through, even more so now. Your kids have the best Dad ever! You are truly loved by so many.”

There’s no doubt that Jonnie has played an active role in his kids’ development, helping with homework and dashing around on a bike with them whenever he can.

“I’ve started to tell Rex in private conversations, ‘You can do anything’,” he explained to Hello! magazine, adding that his eldest had been coming back from nursery “knowing more French than I do”.

He also shared his ambitions for all three of his kids, revealing: “I want them to have the confidence of a public school boy, but also be streetwise lads.”

Meanwhile, he revealed on Instagram that he’d been using a Babboe Cargo Bike, which gives him “electric power assistance”, so that he can now go “pretty much anywhere”, despite his condition.

“I’m obviously a lot weaker these days and would never be strong enough to cart these ankle biters around,” he joked.

However, in a recent sweet picture to demonstrate his new travel method, Rex, along with twins Rafa and Cormac, all huddled themselves into the passenger section, while Jonnie perched himself on the bike, and prepared to speed along.
