Justin Bieber and Kodak Black SUED over shooting outside after-party

Justin Bieber, 28, and rapper Kodak Black, 25, are SUED one year after shooting outside singer’s star-studded afterparty in West Hollywood over Super Bowl LVI weekend

  • Two men claim they were struck and ‘severely injured’ during the shooting
  • They accuse Kodak Black of helping to escalate a fight outside the restaurant
  • Black’s attorney said the suit was a ‘poorly drafted complaint’

Justin Bieber and the rapper Kodak Black are being sued by two victims from a shooting that occurred last year on February 12 outside the singer’s star-studded concert afterparty, reported TMZ on Friday.

In documents obtained by the outlet, Mark Schaefer and Adam Rahman have claimed they were struck during the shooting that happened over Super Bowl LVI weekend, and were consequently ‘severely injured.’

The incident had taken place just outside of The Nice Guy restaurant in West Hollywood, where the Peaches hitmaker, 28, was throwing a party with a list of other celebrities in attendance, including his wife Hailey Bieber, Khloe Kardashian, Tobey Maguire and Drake.

DailyMail.com previously reported that a total of four victims were shot, including Kodak, 25, whose real name is Bill Kahan Kapri.

However, the alleged victims suing the performers have claimed that the Pimpin Ain’t Eazy rapper had a big part in the escalation of the fight that occurred outside of the establishment when an unknown assailant reportedly attacked someone from his group, prompting him to get into the scuffle to protect his friend.

Lawsuit: Justin Bieber and rapper, Kodak Black, are being sued by two victims from a shooting that occurred last year over outside the singer’s star-studded concert afterparty, reported TMZ on Friday

TMZ reports that in the lawsuit documents the two victims claimed that the rapper had ‘escalated’ the fight, resulting in shots being fired.

Not only are the alleged victims suing Justin and Kodak, but also the venue, due to the lack of proper security, along with ‘the City of Los Angeles, the City of West Hollywood, LA County, The Hwood Group and also the Revolve Group for damages.’

Kodak Black’s representative, Bradford Cohen, has spoken out in regard to the lawsuit and informed TMZ, ‘I have seen a lot of bad complaints in my day. This is the most poorly drafted complaint I have seen in 26 years.’

He added that, ‘I expect Kodak to be dismissed from this suit fairly quickly.’ Cohen also explained that ‘there is zero specificity’ and that the victims’ rep, Gloria Allred, ‘groups the defendants all together instead of making specific allegations against each.’

‘It’s law school 101. I am embarrassed for Ms. Allred that she actually signed her name to that complaint,’ Kodak’s rep concluded.

Rappers Black, Lil Baby and Gunna had seen been leaving Justin’s party around 2:45 a.m. when a fight broke out with the rappers’ friends who were in a red Ferrari Sports Car, when Kodak Black took a swing at someone, TMZ first reported at the time.

‘The fight was believed to have started with someone in Kodak Black’s entourage,’ a source told Page Six. ‘After others jumped in, shots were fired… and then all hell broke loose.’

People began running for their lives as shots broke out, according to eye witnesses. Multiple shots were fired hitting three other men, aged between 19 and 60. In total, 10 shots were fired that night.

The 19-year-old and 60-year-old, reported to be one of the victims suing, Mark Schaefer, were transported to the hospital from the scene. Another victim, said to be Black himself, left the scene but was later taken to the hospital.

Video footage of the scene revealed the scuffle erupting outside the West Hollywood restaurant before 2:45am on Saturday after Black left Bieber’s pre-Super Bowl party.

At the scene, multiple men were seen brawling, including Black, only moments before gunshots were heard. People began running for their lives as shots broke out and hit the four victims before the gunman left the scene.

Another part of the footage showed Schaefer sitting beside the Ferrari being helped by a female bystander after he had been shot in the leg.

The Bieber’s were pictured making a hasty exit from the trendy restaurant after a fight broke out, which led to the reported shooting outside.

Justin and Hailey were keen to get as far away from the place as possible as they were ushered out by their security amid the troubles just outside the venue.

A tourist named Sydnie Beeman, who was only around ‘five feet’ of the shooting, opened up to The Sun about what she had witnessed not long after the incident.

The Nashville native had been standing outside the venue with her mother and friends when shots were fired, injuring the rapper, his entourage and her friend.

Shots fired: During the course of the shooting outside of the venue, reportedly a total of 10 shots were fired by an unnamed shooter

‘There was like five of them and they walked to the back entrance to get in but the security said no one was going in and they had been told to lock the doors,’ she stated.

Upset, the group started to leave, but, ‘Then one of the guys who was in Kodak’s entourage got jumped and was thrown on top of a red Ferrari.’

‘Kodak jumped in and started punching the guy who had jumped his friend and then a guy in a black hoodie pulled a gun and aimed it right at Kodak and just started shooting.’

Beeman alleges that although the rapper and his friends were jumped, reports stating the incident occurred as they were leaving the party were inaccurate.

‘I’ve seen a bunch of reports saying that Kodak, Gunna and Lil Baby were in the club. They were never in the club. They were denied entry,’ she said. ‘Drake was coming out as Kodak, Gunna and Lil Baby were getting there.’

‘We don’t know what their beef was but I guess someone showed up that they didn’t like,’ Beeman said, recalling the horrific shooting.

Tragic: Gunna and Kodak Black’s friends were involved in the shootout that also involved two other victims

The eye witness claimed, ‘Kodak was shot in the leg but jumped in a car and sped off’ and that ‘Gunna and Lil Baby left quick and Bieber left out the back about 15 or 20 minutes later.’

Beeman added, ‘Our friend Adam was shot in the shoulder but he’s fine and out of the hospital. The bullet went through his shoulder.’

‘The guy who was shooting and the guy who started the fight ran off towards the Beverly Center and then went down an alley,’ Beeman said. ‘The police showed up almost immediately and they had a helicopter in sky.’

No suspects have been named or arrested in the shooting.
