Lee Juggurnauth fumes UK’s ‘obsession’ with Meghan Markle ‘is a joke’

After much speculation it was announced that Meghan, 41, will not be attending the King’s Coronation on May 6, although it has been announced Prince Harry will attend the event.

Harry, 38, will attend the historic service alone without his beloved wife after he publicly criticised the institution in interviews and his memoir Spare since the couple stepped down as senior royals.

Whilst King Charles is reportedly delighted to have both sons attending his big day, Meghan’s absence has sparked a huge debate.

Lee Juggurnauth spoke out on Twitter and said: “The Meghan obsession is a joke. One minute they want her to ‘Go back to her country and never set foot in the UK’ and then the next ‘It’s inexcusable that she is not coming to the coronation.. How dare she’. Nothing she does will ever be good enough.

Buckingham Palace confirmed Harry’s attendance on Wednesday.

In a statement, it said it was: “Pleased to confirm that The Duke of Sussex will attend the Coronation Service at Westminster Abbey on 6th May.

“The Duchess of Sussex will remain in California with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.”

The decision for Meghan not to attend follows months of tension between the Sussexes and the Royal Family following the release Prince Harry’s book Spare.

A source has claimed that Meghan was “never likely” to attend the Coronation after being put in an “impossible position”.

They told The Mirror: “The truth of the matter is the Duchess was never likely to attend the Coronation.

“The mood from California was that she felt increasingly put in an impossible position and there’s a fair sense of relief that the situation is resolved after so much speculation and uncertainty.

“It is one thing to attend the late Queen’s funeral out of respect for Her Majesty but another thing entirely to attend the start of a new reign.”

Harry and Meghan’s friend Omid Scobie also claimed that Archie’s birthday “played a factor in the couple’s decision”.
