Linda Nolan says ‘I wish I wasn’t dying’ in heartbreaking cancer update

Linda Nolan: 'Who knows how long we've got left but make most of that time'

Linda Nolan, who has been diagnosed with incurable cancer, has heartbreakingly shared “I wish I wasn’t dying” in her latest health update.

The 64-year-old singer is famed for being a part of the singing group the Nolans in the 1970s alongside sisters Anne, Denise, Maureen, Bernie and Coleen.

Linda recently revealed that the terrible disease has “spread to her brain” and is now battling new symptoms that make her confused and forgetful.

The star did share some good news in her latest column for the Mirror that her hair had started to grow back, but admitted: “week has brought snakes as well as ladders.”

“While my hair’s returning, I called Denise ‘Maureen’ the other day,” Linda recalled. She just looked at me.

“I said, ‘You’re not called Maureen, are you?’ Muddling my sisters up isn’t a great sign. It’s obviously the cancer on my brain.

“Denise leaves four calendars around for me because I draw a blank on what day it is,” she continued.

“It is like our mum’s Alzheimer’s. All this means my illness is never far away.”

Linda then went on to share her heartbreak over her worsening illness.

She recalled: “I lay on the couch with Denise the other day to watch a movie and said: ‘I wish I wasn’t dying.’

“The sudden thought swept over me of losing all this. I couldn’t help saying it. She said ‘We will all have to die though’, and quietly, we moved on.”

In 2020, Linda revealed a third recurrence of cancer in her liver, following treatment in 2006 for breast cancer, and later shared that it had spread to her brain.

Linda is not the only Nolan sister to suffer from cancer, as her sister Coleen recently opened up about her own skin cancer scare on Loose Women.

Tragically, Bernie Nolan died of breast cancer in 2013 at the age of 52.

Their sister Anne was also diagnosed with breast cancer for the second time three years ago and is now cancer-free.
