Love Islander reveals controversial fox eye surgery results after alarming swelling snaps

Love Island star Mollie Salmon has unveiled the results of her fox eye surgery, after jetting off to Turkey at the start of May for the controversial procedure.

The 24 year old bombshell famously appeared on the 2022 series of the show as a Casa Amor contestant and rapidly picked up an army of followers online who were hooked on her social media posts.

Regularly updating fans on her day to day life, Mollie’s latest surgical procedure was no exception, with the star documenting her journey from start to finish on TikTok.

The procedure, which is often touted as a “lunchtime fix” is a short surgical procedure in which biodegradable threads are inserted at the temples and corners of the eye to pull the eyes from a rounded shaped into a more almond shape.

Mollie first shared her plans to undergo the procedure back in February, before revealing the immediate aftermath on social media after flying out in May to have the work done.

In a series of shocking images shared online, Mollie could be seen with a significantly swollen face, something which consequentially alarmed many of her fans when she revealed she was struggling to see.

Taking to Instagram, Mollie wrote: “My surgery went well and @monocosmeticsurgery have done a wonderful job looking after me with the help of my best friend @holliebayles I truly couldn't have done this without her.

She then continued: “I am very swollen and am struggling to currently see out of my eyes as that's where the surgery was so I just wanted to let you all know I'm not ignoring anyone, however thank you all for the lovely messages. I'll give you all recovering update pictures soon.”

Mollie then added:”I promised I'd take you all along this journey with my, this is my current healing process, my bruising and swelling will go down after a few days. The procedure I had was fox eyes.”

However, she has since revealed that since the swelling has gone down, she couldn’t be happier with her new look as the procedure was a success.

Priced at around £500, the treatment involved the use of dissolvable stitches to lift the eye and eyebrow, something which is touted to give women a more lifted face.

Taking just half an hour to complete, the recovery time is on overage around 2 weeks to achieve the desired result.

However, a fox eye lift isn’t without risk, as Geordie Shore’s Chloe Ferry previously found out the hard way, after her procedure left her with permanent facial scarring and a dint in the side of her head.

Before Mollie underwent the procedure, Chloe even tried to advise her and other young women against it, as she took to social media to share her story.

"I'm seeing this procedure becoming increasingly more and more popular. This may not happen to everyone but as I'm left with scars seven months later I just wanted to take to social media just to let everyone know what had happened to myself,” Chloe warned fans.

Left with scars as a result of the procedure, Chloe bravely shared a series of makeup free selfies that showed the extent of the injuries, including the visible scars beside her brow bone

"I now have a dint in the side of my face," she lamented.

In addition to permanent scarring, complications from the procedure could even lead to eyelid damage and even a loss of sensation in the area in the worst case scenario.

Such complications can also be tough to reverse with many aestheticians advising against the procedure completely and advising anyone looking for a quick youthful pick me up to try a professional brow shape and lamination instead.
