Love Islands Megan Barton Hanson defends the boys treatment of Tasha

Megan Barton-Hanson has spoken out in defence of the Love Island boys’ treatment of Tasha Ghouri, despite the show receiving 1,509 new Ofcom complaints over their "misogynistic behaviour".

Megan, who appeared on the ITV2 reality series in 2018, weighed in on the complaints sent in from viewers as she supported Luca Bish specifically, after he believed Tasha was playing Andrew Le Page.

The other boys have shared similar opinions, influencing their behaviour towards Tasha in the Snog, Marry, Pie challenge and on Movie Night last week – which led Ofcom complaints to tally up to over 4,000 altogether.

Former contestant Megan, 28, has said she “rates” Luca for “not sitting on the fence” and thinks he has a point with Tasha. She told Radio Times: "I think Luca's got a point to be honest.

"I feel like, good for him for saying how he feels and not sitting on the fence and just being quiet because he wants to be liked by everyone. I actually rate that.”

Though Megan admitted she "didn't like Luca as a person" to begin with, following how he’s acted in his relationship with Gemma Owen, she has since warmed up to him.

She added: "I felt he was very protective and a lot with Gemma but I feel like he's just owning it and being himself and if that's how he feels, [then] good for him actually voicing that and I agree with him.

"I feel like it's so obvious that Tasha is just settling with [Andrew] because she thinks it's going to get her to the final, personally. So, I agree with the boys."

Viewers complained that the boys in the villa were carrying out “misogynistic behaviour” towards the girls after both Movie Night and the Snog, Marry, Pie game, as they gave harsh reasons why they chose to pie Tasha.

Davide Sanclimenti, Dami Hope and Luca each pied the contestant, saying that she “gets away with a lot of stuff” and they "could give a list” as to why she deserved it.

Fans took to Twitter to voice their thoughts as one person wrote: “How the boys treat Tasha is so horrible, I can’t believe this. This is literally bullying and they’re always targeting Tasha and Ekin-Su."

Another said concerned: “Gosh I hope Tasha is OK. These boys are basically bullying her at this point."
