Love Island’s Olivia Hawkins defends ‘showing off’ lavish lifestyle with £1.50 Primark bag

Former Love Island star Olivia Hawkins has fought back against an online troll who slammed her for posting about her lavish lifestyle as she said her handbag cost £1.50 from Primark.

Olivia featured in series nine of Love Island on the winter season of the show, which was filmed in South Africa, and has been making a name for herself in the fashion industry since exiting the show.

Since leaving the villa, Olivia has seen her following increase as she now boasts over 320,000 followers and she posts regular updates from her life.

However, following a recent update from the former ring-girl from Brighton, an online troll slammed her for showing off her lavish lifestyle and said she should be a trying to set a better example to young women.

The person said: "Kids and especially young people have no money these days and seeing you showing off is not helping them."

They went onto say that Olivia should do something "to inspire" girls rather than just "parading her beauty around online".

Olivia hit back at the troll by screenshotting the comment and adding it to her Instagram Story.

In the story, she added the caption: "Never give these types of messages the time of day. No one is perfect but l've worked EXTREMELY hard my whole life to get to where I am today, nothing has ever been handed to me on a plate."

The former islander also went onto remind her following that she too has suffered from "insecurities" and that "no one is perfect."

She also quashed any suggestion that she is parading around and flaunting her wealth as she said that the bag she had on was £1.50 from fast-fashion high street shop, Primark.

However, she quickly resumed posting regularly and gave fans another update saying she had just landed in a sunny location on a British Airways flight, where she was lucky enough to get a row all to herself.

She also thanked fans following the comment as she received a raft of supportive messages.

She wrote: "You guys are the best."

Olivia was in the villa from the start of the last Winter series but did not find anybody that she really liked until Maxwell Samuda came in as a bombshell halfway through the season.

The pair instantly hit it off but have been unable to carry it on outside the villa as it was announced in April of this year that the pair had split.
