Love Islands Tasha Ghouri targeted by cruel trolls prior to joining ITV show

Tasha Ghouri was reportedly the target of horrific bullies online prior to joining the line-up for the hit ITV dating show Love Island this year.

The first ever contestant on the programme Tasha is said to have been subjected to a campaign of abuse since the age of 14, with trolls reportedly calling her and her friends "fat". According to The Sun, she also received horrific death threats through anonymous messages on website ask.fm.

The publication claims an unearthed clip from BBC News back in 2012 shows Tasha's dad Tarek speak out on the abuse his daughter was subjected to.

"My daughter was being abused online. I researched it and was horrified to see ask.fm allowed anonymous posts. I felt compelled to do something," he reportedly said in the news segment. "I raised awareness with the school because even though it happens out of school the impact happens in school."

The publication claimed Tasha, now 23, who recently said "messy people" give her the ick, added: "Some of the comments were, 'Go and get cancer, you don't belong here, go and die, go and hang yourself, you're flat chested, your family's ugly'. It's horrible things."

She reportedly went on to share that her friends, who were also being bullied online, had gone "very quiet" as a result and they had "no idea how to handle it".

OK! Online has approached Tasha's representatives for further comment.
