MAFS UK’s Paul C Brunson hits back at criticism they got matchmaking ‘all wrong’

Married At First Sight UK expert Paul C Brunson has hit back at criticism of the matchmaking process on the show, after fans said he and his fellow relationship experts had got it “all wrong”.

Speaking exclusively to OK!, Paul said that he, Mel Schilling and Charlene Douglas are thinking carefully about the partnerships and “matching them based on all sorts of different things”.

Fans had criticised the experts for putting April, 32, and dad-of-four George, 40, together after April said she didn’t want children, while others took to social media to claim they had got this year’s matches “all wrong”.

Hitting back, the 48 year old said: “In terms of the matching process I see a lot of critique on why people are matched and are we not asking certain questions.

“April and George for example, George has four kids and April said she didn't want children, but April never said she didn’t want to be a parent, she said she didn’t want to bear a child so it’s different.

"We’re matching them based on all sorts of different things.”

One wrote on Twitter: “Anyone else feel the experts have got it all wrong this time. Not enough homework done, couple turn out to be opposites.

"Taken away chance for others to be in it that is serious. Can see most of the couples are only in it for fame #MAFSUK”.

A second added: “How are the experts on Married At First Sight UK so bad at pairing couples,” alongside a crying with laughter emoji.

A third wrote: “Whitney & Matt getting together & cheating on their spouses, Duka & Gemma, has got to be the biggest shock of the series! The ‘experts’ got the matches massively wrong! #MAFs #MAFSUK”.

Paul also shared his thoughts on two contestants cheating on their spouses, which has yet to be shown on-screen but is reported to be Whitney and Matt, who were married to Duka and Gemma.

“All I can say is that it was honestly the most wild swap,” says Paul. “So much so that it was a challenge for myself, Charlene and Mel.

"We debated it for a long time. We had even stopped filming before the scene because we were still debating it out, so the scene was delayed because we were discussing letting them carry on.”

The Celebs Go Dating agent adds: “It’s the most explosive series. Every dinner party will keep you glued and have you on the edge on the seat.”
