Margot Robbie to return to Ramsay Street for epic Neighbours finale

Margot Robbie has been confirmed as one of the former soap stars returning to Ramsay Street for the Aussie soap Neighbours finale.

The show announced the Barbie star, 32, will return to her roots on the once hugely popular soap to resume her role for the grand finale, 10 years after she left and headed to Hollywood.

The news was revealed in a post from the show’s official UK Twitter account on Saturday 23 July, with the Suicide Squad star coming back to Ramsay Street for the final episode of the long-running Australian soap.

Robbie’s return was announced alongside a number of other former stars, including House actor Jesse Spencer and singer Delta Goodrem.

The actress shot to fame on the soap playing Donna Freedman on the show from 2008 to 2011.

Margot hit the big time after time on Ramsay Street and got her first big Hollywood gig on The Wolf of Wall Street in 2013 alongside Hollywood royalty Leonardo DiCaprio.

The Australian actress went on the gain huge recognition for her role as Jane Porter in The Legend of Tarzan in 2016 and Harley Quinn in the superhero films Suicide Squad.

Her latest role will see her play Barbie in the Barbie movie that is currently being filmed out in LA which is set for release in cinemas in July 2023 and sees her star alongsideRyan Gosling.

After 37 years on screen, Neighbours will come to a close with a double-episode special on 29 July.

Kylie Minogue’s iconic character Charlene Mitchell and her on screen partner Jason Donovan’s character Scott Robinson will also be returning for the finale, alongside a host of other former stars including Guy Pearce, Daniel MacPherson and Natalie Bassingthwaite.

They were one of the most famous couples in the soap’s history and the duo are returning for an emotional special that will bring the series to a close, after it was axed from Channel 5.

Previously,Kylie teased that the ending to the long-running soap is “emotional”and returning to the series was “quite something.”

She began about returning to the set: "It was lovely and emotional. Driving into Ramsay Street was quite something.”

"Firstly, where's all that time gone? Secondly, everything looks exactly the same.

"Thirdly, Scott, Charlene, Jane, Harold – it all just came flooding back."

While she couldn’t reveal any details about the final, she added: "There was a lot of talking about memories and going back in time."

Neighbours will end with a double-episode special on Channel 5 at 9pm on 29 July.
