Meghan Markle vows to show ‘unfiltered, real me’ as she promotes new podcast

Meghan Markle has already won plaudits from listeners of her new podcast Archetypes after the first episode went live on Spotify.

During a promotional interview with Spotify, the Duchess of Sussex, 41, explains to potential listeners of the podcast that they "should expect the real me".

She goes onto say that many people have probably "never gotten to know" her, stating that most of what people hear is "through the lens of the media".

Meghan said: "People should expect the real me in this and probably the me they've never gotten to know. Certainly not in the past few years, where everything is through the lens of the media. As opposed to, 'Hey, it's me.'

"I'm just excited to be myself and talk, and be unfiltered, and yeah, it's fun."

Accompanying the mini interview, Spotify took to Twitter to post: "She's here [star emoji] Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex brings us a new podcast. Welcome to Archetypes."

The comment section below the tweet was filled with positive feedback with some even suggesting they're on their second and even third listen.

One fan said: "You guys hit it out of the park with this one Spotify. I'm hooked."

A second commenter wrote: "Just listened! First episode was so good. Looking forward to other episodes."

And a third said: "I love love the podcast. I’m still listening. It’s such a soft warm listen. [red love heart emoji] I’m home nursing a sickness so it’s kept me busy."

Tuesday, 23 August, saw the release of Meghan's first podcast episode, which has a total run time of 57 minutes and 28 seconds.

In the episode, Meghan chats with tennis legend Serena Williams about the double standard women face when they are labelled "ambitious" and the ripple effect this has on other aspects of their lives.

Also joining Meghan in the episode is Dr. Laura Kray, a leading expert on gender in the workplace.

The description for Archetypes on Spotify is as follows: "Introducing Archetypes, a refreshing and dynamic new podcast where Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex dives into the labels that try to hold women back.

"During these intimate and candid conversations with guests from around the world we discover how these archetypes impact our everyday lives in ways big and small.

"With experts and historians, Meghan also uncovers how we got here in the first place – unearthing the origin of words such as ‘diva’, ‘slut’, ‘the B word’, ‘hysterical’, and many more, and asks the question: can we change this?"
