MIC star Millie Mackintosh 12 weeks sober after suffering from ‘hangxiety’

Made In Chelsea veteran Millie Mackintosh has opened up about her decision to stop drinking on Instagram.

The 33 year old, who recently said she wouldn't "last a second on SAS", told fans: “I realise I haven’t done a mental health check in a while. I’ve been sharing more on the podcast, but I wanted to update you on how I’m feeling on here.”

Millie went on to explain that whilst she’s “generally a lot less anxious which is great,” she recently had a “breakthrough in therapy,” which led her to reconsider her relationship to alcohol.

She continued: “I didn’t want to admit it, but it’s a huge trigger for my anxiety. It has an instant negative effect on my mental health and right now I’m focused on feeling my best, finding happiness in my life and not trying to escape from it.”

Millie explained that, whilst she’s “not saying I’ll never drink alcohol again,” she’s embracing her new sober lifestyle and added that she’s “feeling more energised, my skin is looking great and I’m sleeping much better.”

The reality star finished her post by asking fans to share their own experiences with quitting the drink and revealed that she’s keen to hear from the “sober curious”.

It comes after Millie revealed in August 2022 that she had been taking medication to help with her anxiety.

The mother-of-two, who is married to fellow former Made in Chelsea star Hugo Taylor, revealed that she had been suffering from “consuming” thoughts and that her mental health had worsened after becoming a mother and being stuck in lockdown.

Millie and Hugo, 36, share two daughters – they welcomed two year old Sienna in May 2020 and their youngest, Aurelia, one, in November 2021.

The couple met in 2011 on the set of Made in Chelsea, but split not long after when it was revealed on the show that Hugo had been unfaithful with friend and co-star Rosie Fortescue.

Millie went on to marry rap star Professor Green, 38, in February 2014 but split acrimoniously two and a half years later, with the rapper explaining in 2018 that the divorce was "expensive" but "worth it".

After her break-up, Millie reportedly sought comfort in old flame Hugo and the two got back together just five weeks after her divorce was finalised.

Putting their past behind them, Millie and Hugo tied the knot in June 2018 in an intimate ceremony at Whithurst Park in East Sussex.

Since leaving reality tv behind, Millie has turned her attention to her podcast, Mumlemmas & more, which she co-hosts with friend Charlie Boud.

The podcast, which is released weekly, sees the two women talk about their personal experiences of motherhood and get tips from top parenting experts.
