Mike Tindall risks Charles wrath as he didnt ask permission for Im A Celeb stint

Former rugby player turned royal Mike Tindall may be preparing to appear in this year's I'm a Celebrity… Get me Out Of Here but it appears he may not have received King Charles's permission to do so.

Mike, who is married to the King's niece Zara Tindall, nee Phillips, is said to have signed up for the ITV reality show, making him the first royal to do so.

However it seems that the 43 year old may be risking Charles's wrath, as it's rumoured he did not seek the monarch's permission before agreeing to appear on the popular reality show.

According to The Times, while Mike has not received the King's permission for this TV appearance, the potential of earning six figures may make it difficult for the Palace to change his mind.

OK! has contacted Mike's representative for comment.

And while his appearance in the series has not been confirmed by ITV, a source told The Sun: "It’s a massive coup. Mike has had a box seat for some of the most important moments in royal history for generations.

“He is sure to be discreet, but his sheer presence means this series will be an absolute must-watch.”

In 2015 Mike appeared in the shows The Jump and Bear Grylls: Mission Survive, which saw him drink a pint of urine.

And in 2018, he featured in And They're Off! in aid of Sport Relief. This appearance saw him compete against, and ultimately lose out to former footballer Michael Owen.

The dad-of-three has made number of brief TV appearances since then, including on Loose Women's Loose Men special, and Top Gear, which he appeared on alongside Zara.

He currently co-hosts the podcast The Good, The Bad & The Rugby, alongside his fellow former rugby players James Haskell and Alex Payne.

Mike joined the royal family in 2011 when he married Zara, the daughter of Princess Anne.

Two years after the wedding, the couple revealed that they were expecting their first child together, with Zara giving birth to baby Mia Grace Tindall in January 2014.

Since then the doting parents have welcomed two more children – Lena Elizabeth, four, and one year old Lucas.

The unlikely couple met in Australia nearly twenty years ago, Mike for the Rugby World Cup, and Zara on a gap year.

When Mike visited a pub with pals Martin Corry and Austin Healy, he unknowingly met his wife-to-be.

Speaking to the Daily Mail in 2011 about their first meeting, he explained: “Austin gave me her number and said, 'She wants you to text her, to say where you're all going out after the final so she can come along.”
