NCIS just made a major move leaving fans divided as season 21 still delayed

NCIS: Actor Rocky Carrol on the success of TV show

NCIS just made a major move on social media.

Amid a delay in production on season 21 due to ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, the series decided to consolidate its presence online.

NCIS fans were surprised when they discovered several accounts for spinoffs, including NCIS: Los Angeles, New Orleans, and Hawaii suddenly disappeared.

The series explained their decision on social media. But fans were divided on the issue, especially in light of the disappointing season 21 news.

On Instagram, NCIS revealed the contentious update through a unique video snippet.

“It’s NCIS – open up. Welcome to the new home of all things #NCISverse. Stay a while. You’ll like it here,” the post explained.

The central NCIS account will now be the hub for everything related to the franchise, including its various spinoffs.

Although fans generally relish any news about the show, reactions to this recent development were decidedly mixed.

A sizable portion of the show’s 764,000 followers welcomed the shift.

Fans peppered the comments section with heart symbols and enthusiastic remarks such as “Love all the NCIS” and “THE GANG IS ALL HERE.”

On the flip side, several fans expressed reservations about the disappearance of social media content related to specific spinoffs.

Fans were particularly vocal about NCIS: Los Angeles and NCIS: New Orleans, which concluded their series in 2023 and 2021, respectively.

The shift in social media strategy coincides with less-than-ideal updates about the upcoming 21st season.

CBS originally slotted NCIS into its regular Monday evening schedule for the fall TV season of 2023-2024.

However, the network has since adjusted its plans due to the ongoing labour strikes involving writers and actors.

As of now, no release date for season 21 is available. Remarkably, this marks the first fall in two decades that won’t feature new episodes of the popular show.
