Neighbours finale: Viewers praise Guy Pearce for his ‘incredible commitment’ by filming an entire storyline as Mike Young – including a long-awaited reunion with ‘Plain Jane’ Harris: ‘He didn’t forget where he came from’

Neighbours fans and critics alike have praised Hollywood star Guy Pearce for his impressive ‘commitment’ to the series finale.

The 54-year-old actor, who portrayed Mike Young from 1986 to 1989, returned to Ramsay Street one last time on Thursday’s episode as the beloved Australian soap opera came to an end after a historic 37-year run.

Many viewers flocked to social media to thank Pearce for returning for a proper, satisfying storyline, instead of just making a brief cameo.

Social media erupted on Thursday night after Mike (Pearce) professed his love for Jane Harris (Annie Jones) during Thursday night’s Neighbours finale.

During the episode, Mike laid his feelings on the line for Jane, and it proved to be the happy ending fans across the world needed.

‘The reality is I’m still in love with you. Probably more now than I ever used to be,’ he said.
