Neil Jones ignores Strictly snub and claims he ‘doesn’t need a partner’

Strictly’s Nadiya and Kai reveal how they started dating

Neil Jones has shrugged off being snubbed after he and Nadiya Bychkova failed to secure partners for this year’s series of Strictly Come Dancing.

During the show launch, all 15 contestants were paired up with their professional partners, but one or two favourites missed out on securing a regular spot in this year’s run.

Two notable absentees who missed out on a celebrity partner were Ukrainian dancer Nadiya Bychkova and series regular Neil.

Neil has now responded in an interview with MailOnline, saying he “doesn’t need” a partner.

“If anyone makes a joke and we do joke around with each other a lot it’s still I won 45 titles… four-times world champion… 15 times British… I have done it all, I don’t need it,” he joked.

He added: “There are only three of us that are world champions on the show, me, Katya and Nadiya… me and Katya are the only pros that have won Blackpool… it’s those things, we have done that, Strictly is a different thing.”

Nadiya was partnered with Matt Goss last year and is currently in a relationship with fellow professional Kai Widdrington.

When news came out that she hadn’t got a partner, Nadiya posted a lengthy statement on Instagram saying that she was “disappointed.”

“I’m sure you’ll understand that I’m disappointed not to be partnered with a celebrity on Strictly this series,” she wrote.

“It is an amazing show to be a part of and I’m still so excited for all the group numbers, performing with some of our music acts and much much more.” (sic)

Both Neil and Nadiya will be part of the larger group dances during the series.

Neil joined Strictly Come Dancing seven years ago, but has only ever been partnered with a celebrity twice.

He was previously married to fellow pro dancer Katya Jones, but the pair later divorced in 2019.

Neil has just recently become a father for the first time as his fiancee Chyna Mills welcomed a baby girl yesterday.
