Niall Horan Reveals He Cringes at Old ‘X Factor’ Videos & If He Would Turn the Chair For Himself on ‘The Voice’

Niall Horan is speaking out about his time on singing competition shows.

The now 29-year-old entertainer of course gained noteriety after auditioning on The X Factor in the UK, where he was put into One Direction. Now, he’s a judge on The Voice in the US.

In a new interview, Niall opens up about cringeing at old videos of himself, and if he were auditioning on The Voice, would he turn his chair?

Check out what he said inside…

“Oh, yeah. Most of my career,” he told InStyle with a laugh, about cringing at old videos. “No, there were definitely clips that I watched back and thought, ‘What was I talking about? Why did I do that? Why did I sing that?’ All the things I said, like you just get, it’s not overconfidence, it’s just like an awkwardness, and you’ve ended up just looking like an idiot — and it’s all on YouTube.”

If his past self from 2010 auditioned on The Voice, would Niall turn for him?

“I definitely wouldn’t turn for me, if that’s what you’re asking,” he shares. “I was probably a year or two early, but then, luck was on my side. I was in the right place at the right time with the right people, and Katy Perry saved my ass and the rest is history.”

However, if he did get other chair turns, who out of his current fellow coaches would he choose? Kelly Clarkson!

If you didn’t know, Niall also just dropped a new song, “Meltdown,” from his upcoming new album, The Show.

“Whenever I’m having some kind of issue, the easiest thing is to sit at the piano and let it all out, and it’s not until I listen back that I realize, ‘Jesus, that was honest,’” he says of the song. Check it out here!
