No Deal! Alec Baldwin Pleads NOT GUILTY In Rust Shooting Case!

There’s been an update on Alec Baldwin’s case.

As you know, the 64-year-old actor – along with armorer Hannah Gutirrez-Reed – was charged with two counts of involuntary manslaughter for the fatal shooting of Rust cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. Prosecutors later dropped the firearms enhancement charge against him and Hannah, which would have given them a mandatory five years in jail if convicted, due to a “legal error.” Alec only faces a sentence of 18 months in prison now if found guilty – but it looks like he won’t be going down without a fight!

According to court documents obtained by People on Thursday, he officially pleaded not guilty to the charges in New Mexico’s Santa Fe County First District court. The 30 Rock alum also waived his right to appear in court for a hearing that was scheduled for Friday, February 14.

Therefore, judge Mary Marlow Sommer canceled the hearing – meaning no one will be seeing Alec appear in court for the first time since being charged. However, per Deadline, the judge put some conditions in place for the Beetlejuice star. Moving forward, he will not be allowed to drink alcohol, hold a gun, or speak with potential witnesses in the criminal case unless it’s in “connection with completing the Rust movie and other related and unrelated business matters.”

As for Hannah? Her attorney Jason Bowles told Deadline she is still appearing virtually on Friday for her own hearing. She has not entered a plea yet but isn’t required to do so until that day. We’ll have to see what happens next with this case! Reactions to the latest, Perezcious readers? Let us know in the comments below!
