Ozzy Osbourne issues an update on his health
Ozzy Osbourne has revealed he is in “a lot of pain” as he prepares to undergo his fourth round of surgery for a spinal injury.
The Black Sabbath star has faced problems with his neck and spine since a nasty fall at his home four years ago aggravated injuries from a 2003 quad bike incident, which resulted in him breaking his neck vertebra, collarbone and eight ribs.
In a new update, Ozzy, 71, said a recent appointment determined that his two vertebrae had “disintegrated”.
Speaking on The Osbournes podcast on Tuesday, he said: “What they’ve discovered is the neck has been fixed but below the neck, there’s two vertebrae where the bike hit me, they have disintegrated, there’s nothing left of ’em.”
He briefly went on to tell children Jack and Kelly Osbourne that doctors were now to “pop a rod” into him at his next appointment.

As daughter Kelly queried the doctor’s next move, wife Sharon Osbourne interjected saying: “No, it’s not the big one, it’s very very small, it’s not the whole rod.”
The family went on to try and figure out the technical term for the procedure before Ozzy added: “All I know is right now I’m in a lot of pain. I’m in a lot of discomfort.”
In 2022, the singer reflected on his gruelling years of surgery and painkillers and how it had also affected his long-term wife.
He told The Sun: “Never have I been laid up so bad for so long.
“It’s been breaking Sharon’s heart to see me like this but I will get back on tour if it f***ing kills me.”

Determined to fight through his health woes, Ozzy did go on to perform during half-time of the NFL game between the Los Angeles Rams and the Buffalo Bills in September last year.
He also sang Black Sabbath’s song Paranoid alongside guitarist Tony Iommi at the Commonwealth Games closing ceremony a month previous.
“That’s all I know how to do,” he added to the publication. “I can’t watch videos of myself on stage because I get so p***ed off!”
As well as his injuries, Ozzy revealed he had Parkinson’s in 2020.
In the same interview, the rockstar said he was told his case was “the mildest ever” as he doesn’t suffer from many common symptoms.
The three main symptoms of Parkinson’s disease are involuntary shaking of particular parts of the body (tremor), slow movement and stiff and inflexible muscles.
Ozzy however said he doesn’t “shake at all” and was baffled how they determined he had it.
He added: “My Parkinson’s doctor says, ‘I’ve got to tell you something, I’ve seen all kinds of Parkinson’s but yours is the mildest ever’.
“I don’t even know how anyone worked out I had it in the first place.”
