Phillip Schofield is struggling and stressed after quitting This Morning, body language expert claims

A body language expert has claimed that Phillip Schofield is ‘struggling and stressed’ after sensationally quitting This Morning.

The TV star, 61, stepped down after 21 years of fronting the show with his co-host Holly Willoughby.

In a statement released on Saturday, Phillip said: “I have always been proud to cover fascinating stories on This Morning. But recently, This Morning itself has become the story.

“Throughout my career in TV – including the very difficult last few days – I have always done my best to be honourable and kind. I understand that ITV has decided the current situation can’t go on, and I want to do what I can to protect the show that I love.

“So I have agreed to step down from This Morning with immediate effect, in the hope that the show can move forward to a bright future. I’d like to thank everyone who has supported me – especially This Morning’s amazing viewers – and I’ll see you all for the Soap Awards next month.”

As news of his exit broke on Saturday morning, the broadcaster was spotted on a stroll along a coastal path in Cornwall with his elderly mum Pat, 85.

Wearing a white hoodie, blue jeans and some Converse, Phil looked seemingly relaxed walking from the car park to the cliff edge with his dear mother.

But a body language expert believes that pictures of him on the walk reveal the presenter is ‘feeling stressed’ about the future.

Inbaal Honigman, who works as a celebrity psychic and body language expert told The Mirror: “In one picture, out walking with his lovely mother, he's flashing a smile, but his hands are doing the talking. One hand is tucked entirely in his jean pocket, which makes him seem stressed. The whole hand is missing from view, unlike his usual laid-back pocket tuck we see on TV, in which his thumbs used to stick out.

"There's nothing laid back about his hand dug forcefully into his pocket, with the skin around his wrist gathered uncomfortably around the pocket edge, showing us that it was not easy for him to get it in there."

In other pictures she suggests that his seemingly expressionless face is also doing a lot of talking.

She said biting his lips shows tension and his eyebrows lowering on his face aso signify worry.

Phil’s former co-host Holly also took to her Instagram stories shortly after his statement on Saturday.

Writing over a pink coloured background, blonde beauty Holly wrote: “It’s been over 13 great years presenting This Morning with Phil and I want to take this opportunity to thank him for all of his knowledge, his experience and his humour. The sofa won’t feel the same without him.”

Holly will be taking Monday off from work following the news with the Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary set to be the emergency replacements for the show.
