Phillip Schofield’s ex lover ‘working in remote pub’ not TV in ‘big downfall’

Phillip Schofield gives whiskey to former lover on This Morning

Friends of Phillip Schofield’s former lover have claimed his dreams of a successful television career has been “ruined” and he is now “forced to work in hospitality” at a remote pub.

The 61-year-old revealed last week that he had had an affair with a young male runner on This Morning while still married to his wife Stephanie Lowe.

Friends of the former ITV runner have now told The Telegraph that he has suffered a “big downfall” since the end of his relationship with Phillip and that the last they heard from him he was looking for a room to rent.

The source claimed the young man was “determined to be famous” and received preferential treatment from Phillip during his time on the show, such as joining him and Holly on stage in 2018 to collect This Morning’s National Television Award.

They also claimed that he “used to get cars around the place with Phillip”, tended to hang out with the presenter and the celebrity guests as well as never having to do the “boring errands” like making tea.

The runner was reportedly positioning himself for a long, lustrous career in television and had been “angling towards” moving on to the production team, but has now been “forced to seek work in hospitality” according to the outlet.

The source claimed he has just started a new job as a pub bed and breakfast manager in the north of England and was “looking for a room to rent”.

They claimed he “should be having a good career in television now”, describing the situation as “a big downfall” adding that it was “quite striking”.

Phillip’s relationship with the runner reportedly turned in 2019 when the young man was moved to the Loose Women programme.

The young man left the television industry in 2020, the same year Phillip publicly revealed he is gay and separated from his wife.

Eamonn Holmes, who also worked alongside the young man on This Morning, described him as a “really good talented fella” but claimed he had been struggling since leaving the television industry.

He also criticised the network for not following its “duty of care” towards him.
