Pregnant Laura Anderson – ‘I want Mum with me at the birth, but Gary Lucy’s welcome!’

Pregnant former Love Island star Laura Anderson is set to welcome her first child – a girl – into the world in a matter of weeks.

Laura, 34, is looking towards solo mum life, after she split from her baby's father, former EastEnders star Gary Lucy, 41, around the same time as she announced her pregnancy to the world.

Now that the arrival of her little one is pending, Laura has started thinking about the type of birth she wants, as well as who she wants in the labour room with her.

Speaking in her weekly exclusive pregnancy column with OK!, Laura said: "I will definitely have my mum in the labour room with me when I give birth, but it's such a long process that I might have my friends coming and going.

"Gary is welcome to come, too, if he wants to be there, so I am just going to play everything by ear.

Laura also discussed her plans for the birth, as she admitted that, whilst she likes to be in control, she's learning to accept that what will be, will be when it comes to the birth.

She said: "I'm just trying to be really positive about my birth plan, as I am doing it with the NHS.

"When you go private, you can choose things and you're definitely going to get your own room, but with the NHS, sometimes it is a little bit about your luck.

"And because I really want to use the birthing pools, you don't know if it's going to be available, so you have to be open minded, and know you might not get exactly what you want."

In another recent column, Laura admitted that she was "grieving the life I thought I'd have" with her first pregnancy – as she never envisaged doing it alone with out a partner.

The Scottish star explained: "I've been putting a lot of things, such as a baby shower, off, because I feel like I'm sort of grieving the life I thought I'd have, being pregnant.

"It's a grievance what I thought my life was going to be like, at this point, and how I thought my first pregnancy was going to be – settled down with my partner and raising a baby together.

"I'm just going through the process of realising that my life isn't going to be like that, because I am doing it myself, and just coming to terms with the fact that it's not going to be the way I thought it would."

Meanwhile, Laura has finally found herself a new flat, which has more space for her and her little one, and she said that it's making her more excited for her baby to arrive.
