Pregnant Laura Anderson: ‘This will be an NHS birth – I’m trying not to plan too much’

Pregnant Love Island star Laura Anderson is eagerly anticipating the birth of her first child, after announcing she was expecting a baby in February.

The 34 year old star is having a baby girl and, after the breakdown of her relationship with ex-boyfriend, Gary Lucy, 41, Laura is proudly doing motherhood as a single mum.

In her latest exclusive pregnancy column for OK! , Laura talks about her changing figure, and accepting it as it is, whilst also discussing her plans for labour, and who she will have in the delivery room.

I'm trying not to plan the birth too much

I'm just trying to be really positive because about my birth plan, as I am doing it with the NHS.

When you go private, you can choose things and you're definitely going to get your own room, but with the NHS, sometimes it is a little bit about your luck.

And because I really want to use the birthing pools, you don't know if it's going to be available, so you have to be open minded, and know you might not get exactly what you want.

I'm accepting that I can't be in control of my body

I'm always quite a planner, and I like to be in control, but with this pregnancy experience, I know that I can't really be in control, because it's all about surrendering your body and accepting the changes that it is going through.

My boobs have got so much bigger, and of course my stomach, too, it's all just part of the process.

I'm keeping active during pregnancy – it helps with labour

I've been training with a PT who specialises in pre and post-natal exercise, as it's important for me to keep active during my pregnancy.

Everyone says easier labour is if you are quite mobile or just if you are constantly keeping active during your pregnancy, it helps when you're giving birth.

I am keen to get back to training once the baby is born, but I am panicking a little bit because it's difficult to know what to do with my daughter whilst I am working out.

I'm having my mum in the labour room but Gary is welcome

I will definitely have my mum in the labour room with me when I give birth, but it's such a long process that I might have my friends coming and going.

Gary is welcome to come, too, if he wants to be there, so I am just going to play everything by ear.

I'm going to have another 4D scan

I can't wait to see my baby girl again in another 4D scan soon. It's going to be the last one before she arrives, and it's making me even more excited to meet her.

I'm not sure I will be able to see as much as the last time as obviously she's grown loads and her face might be a bit squished, but it will still be really lovely to see.

It's good to have some sugar before the scan as it is supposed to make the baby move so you can see them better.
