Princess Anne looks sombre as she’s seen for first time since Queen’s death

Princess Anne looked sombre as she made her first public appearance following the death of her beloved mother Queen Elizabeth II.

The 72 year old could be seen making her way to a church service at Crathie Kirk, near Balmoral, on Saturday 10 September alongside other Royal Family members such as Prince Andrew, 62, and Prince Edward, 58.

Princess Anne, the Queen and Prince Philip's only daughter, was also joined by her husband, Vice Admiral Timothy Laurence, 67, and her two children, Zara Tindall, 41, and Peter Phillips, 44, in Scotland.

Following the emotional church service, the family admired floral tributes outside the venue together which had been left by well-wishers.

The Princess Royal and her husband also thanked members of the public who had lined the streets leading to Balmoral following the service.

The crowd of well-wishers at Balmoral broke out into a round of applause as the royal family waved to them.

Mum-of-three Zara looked tearful as she remembered her grandmother, along with Princess Eugenie, 32, who was comforted by her father Prince Andrew and older sister Princess Beatrice, 34.

The Earl and Countess of Wessex also attended the service along with their 18 year old daughter Lady Louise Windsor.

The Royals all attended the service on 10 September dressed in black, and they will not be seen wearing any colour for at least 17 days, until the period of mourning following the Queen's death comes to an end.

The family spent just under 10 minutes intently reading the tributes and admiring the flowers before they returned inside Balmoral Castle.

Meanwhile, new monarch King Charles III remained back in London as he was officially proclaimed King in a ceremony at St. James's Palace earlier on in the day.

King Charles, 73, and new Queen Consort Camilla, 74, left Balmoral on Friday morning to travel back to the capital ahead of the historic ceremony.
